Hi,
Unfortunately the Helmond show on june 3rd, Holland was cancelled. Fans only learnt it when they arrived at the scene because there was a flyer on the door. There were approx. 15 people in front of a closed door. Why fans could not be reached through internet is a major bummer for all who travelled to Helmond!
The text of the flyer reads as follows (a copy with fan comments is included):
"Dear PLATO visitor and PLATO personnel:
Tonights Glenn Hughes concert WILL NOT GO ON.
Unfortunately the concert has been cancelled due to illness of Glenn Hughes (serious problems with his voice).
Because we only learnt this today it was too late to inform everybody. We apologize for the inconvenience. Of course tickets can be returned at the selling points.
Again, we apologize.
PLATO personnel:
I tried to call everybody regarding tonights concert, most of you I could reach but unfortunately not everyone. Too you too we apologize for the inconvenience but I hope you understand the fact that it was a last minute cancellation and because of that we couldn't reach everone on time
Kind regards
Pascal van Hal (PLATO)" -

Hi Shirean,
Thanx to Bob for this stunning information!! -

Hi,
These are some pix I just took with my digital camera at Glenn's concert in Belgium one hour ago.
For me it was a 32 kilometer drive into Belgium, the closest ever Glenn played to where I live!! -

Hi,
this is a newspaper clipping from the March 14, 1986 issue of US newspaper Chicago Tribune.
Glenn talks about breathing some new life in the old warhorse Black Sabbath,
It was written by Tom Popson.
(thanks to DP magazine "Darker than Blue") -

This is an excellent pic from an underdocumented Glenn-year; 1987.
Can you tell us what the occasion was when the pic was taken? It seems like they're posing or was it a real live event???
Keep them coming! -

....and this is from KERRANG no. 115 (March 1986).
I must upload the Tony Iommi interview sometime soon (as Glenn got some room to talk too!) -
-
This picture is slightly off topic but it adds a little to the SOUNDS article I just uploaded.
It's the Gary Moore 1984 line-up with Ian Paice, Craig Gruber and Neil Carter (Courtesy his Tourbook)
Also, I saw this line-up play Nijmegen in 1984!
It was LOUD!
If Glenn had only joined Gary a year earlier I might have witnessed a *stellar* band! -

Hi,
As I'm eagerly awaiting for Glenn to appear on his current Tour in Holland, I dug up this old interview with Gary Moore in an old "SOUNDS" magazine.
There is a definite "Purple" link as Ian Paice was in his band at the time and he was also trying to lure Glenn into his band.
He succesfully did so a year later in 1985 on his "Run for Cover" album -

Hi,
I listened to this tune, but it's not the Hall & Oates *she's gone* and it isn't Santana's *she's not there* either.
I'm puzzled by this track...it reminds me a bit of 70's Trapeze!
By the way...you guys from Cincinnatti?? Good that that runaway train in Ohio yesterday just got stopped before it reached you guys!
I'll be seeing BAD COMPANY (with Paul Rodgers) in Cincinnatti while I'm over there this summer!!!

Hey,
This is from a TV-interview in Sweden done by Anders Tenger in February 1993 during his TV program METALL MAGASINET.
Glenn was on a promotional trip in Europe talking about the "Blues" album, God, Drugs, Past, Present and Future.
Tengner interviewed Glenn already in 1988 during his brief spell with John Norum. Glenn even sang 2 songs at Tengners wedding in 1990. So they know each other pretty well.
The total interview last approx. 8 minutes. -
-
Hey,
Whatever happened with Glenn post-Hughes/Thrall and pre-Black Sabbath.
read it all in this 16 (!) year old article of KERRANG magazine number 87 from 1985. -
-
Hi,
This is from the British sportsmagazine MATCHDAY from December 1994.
Glenn is a huge fan of soccerteam Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In this article he is interviewed by Rock journalist Malcolm Dome and he gets to select his fave Wanderers soccer team
(I hope they're big enough to read it!) -

Hi there,
I only got the sound of this particular segment.
A friend send it to me.
However, I did see the BBC documentary about Purple when it was aired. It was very well done!
I don't know where to get it. You might want to try the BBC -

Here is an interview with Glenn, Aired on February 11th 1994 (Dutch Radio "Countdown Cafe") just after the release of "From now on".
The interviewer is Kees Baars, former manager of Dutch rock band VANDENBERG which later spawned Adrian Vandenberg as guitarist in Whitesnake.
Part One is 3.33 minutes long
Part Two is 4.12 minutes long -

Hi,
This is from the "BBC Rock Family Tree" Documentary about Deep Purple aired (and probably also made)in 1995.
All versions of DP up untill that year were discussed.
This is the 3.53 minute long segment where Paice, Lord, Hughes and Coverdale (seperately) talk about Blackmore leaving and Bolin entering Deep Purple. -

Hi there,
this is a compilation of Glenn Hughes' contributions to the Tommy Bolin Documentary as issued by the Tommy Bolin Archives in 2 video's
1. The Music Link's Tommy Bolin Documentary
2. The Ultimate (which is basically a different version of that same documentary).
All Glenn's contributions are pieced together in this MP3 file which is 4.51 seconds long. To actually see Glenn doing the interview, you have to buy these video's of the Tommy Bolin Archives
Although he did record with Whitesnake at that time, Glenn kept an extremely low profile in 1989.
This is one of the very few public appearances he made during that time. -

Hi,
And here is the live result of the Hughes/Norum collaboration. A part of "Reach for the sky", A Gary Moore cover with a nice intro of Glenn.
(Live at the Scandinavium, Gothenburg, Sweden. May 21st, 1988. As part of a televised Swedish Rock show) -
-
Hi,
- Here's a 1 minute soundbyte of Glenn talking about his future collaboration with John Norum. (March 19th 1988, London). -

David & Shirean,
Thursday April 5 I received the CD-r with the Rockline show on it: THANKS A LOT FOR SENDING THE STUFF...I won't forget you guys as promised.
It's like Glenn is going to cover all of Stevie Wonders "Talking book" he did Maybe your baby (Feel), Superstitious (live) and now Blame it on the sun (live). This must be Glenn's all time favourite album!!!
thanks again! -
