Glenn, in recent years has tried to keep moving forwards, and not devoted too much time looking back. Well I have to tell you that this was a very special night, largely because G dipped deep into his back catalogue. Wonderful acoustic treatment of some Trapeze stuff, but the highlight for me and Oggers was Coast to Coast played on Mel's beloved Black Beauty. Very moving for both of us.
Black Cloud with voice and an electro-acoustic? Wonderful to see how a rock classic can transcend musical genres in the hands of a unique talent that Glenn possesses. Put this set on disc and it's a winner – and G told me that was going to happen as he becomes more confident with six strings again!

Saw Little Feat on Wednesday and Kenny Gradney was awsome – outstanding!

Marcus, you know me, Noz and Rab did just that at the Feat gig on Wednesday evening in Wolverhampton.

Thanks Andrew, I got it changed for later editions.

Bill, what a wonderful tribute – thank you.

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that Mel passed peacfully away in his sleep on Tuesday July 1, 2008 at 10pm.

It's only been mentioned once on this thread, but if I'm recommending a Glenn album to someone who's not familiar with his work, it's S.T.K.O.R!

Bill, Mel's Custom is a '67.

Did I ever tell you about the European tour I did with Journey in 1980. My company did the merchandising and the guys and their manager Herbie Herbert were magic. Greg Rollie – what a guy!
And in a couple of months the new incarnation are appearing in Wolverhampton in front of 1500 people! How the mighty have fallen. Saw Schoen's Soul Sircus there last year. -
Nice one Paul! Takes me back – and your so right about the power. Unbelievable!

As many of you can testify, Trapeze were a pretty LOUD band a the time of opening for The Who. However, John Ogden recalls going on stage at the Civic in Wolverhampton to announce the bands, and he recalls The Who warming up in their dressing room and being so loud that they were totally audible to the crowd enjoying Trapeze out front!

Trapeze's manager Tony Perry has, I believe, a concise diary of ALL dates the band played. I'll call him over the next week and see if I can clear up some of the issues raised.

Hey David, thanks for the head up on that broadcast. Sure was F.U.N.K.Y!!

I've heard Mel talk about this tour. I don't think they were too enamored with B.O.C. In fact, the members of Trapeze added their own version of what the abbreviation on the sign on the dressing room door meant! Answers on a postcard please. . . .

Just a taste from earlier today. Sorry about the quality! -
Folks, I know it's cold comfort (no pun intended) but when Glenn was at JBs in England last year, he was so worried about meeting the fans backstage and catching a cough or cold, he was ultra careful about who got to shake hands with him. His voice is his living and I know he must be as ticked off as you guys about having to cancel shows.

Great stuff! That middle one of Mel (FC1002), thats the suit that Glenn gave him, as worn on the California Jam.
You beat me to it J, absolutely right! -
Graham, you are absolutely right – Mel is inspiring all of us around him to enjoy and celebrate his life.
Cheers mate! -
Grace, John Ogden is one of Mel and Glenn's dearest friends and played percussion on You Are The Music.. as well as dozens of live performances with Trapeze. He wrote the article sure – but the headline is added by a sub-editor when making the page up.
However, it could have been more caring, I agree.
Mel saw the article yesterday and when we spoke last night he was very happy with the piece.
Love J
