    Says Hughes:

    Quote

I'm excited to be touring the "Classic Deep Purple Live" in the UK in May 2019. I first toured Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand in 2017 and it went down like a storm. We’re currently touring a first set of dates in the UK and are looking forward for a second round in 2019.

Deep Purple took a quantum leap when the then 20-year-old Glenn Hughes was seconded from British funk-rock outfit Trapeze in mid-1973. As bassist and co-vocalist (with David Coverdale), he helped steer the legendary rock group in the progressive direction of Burn (1974), Stormbringer (1974) and Come Taste the Band (1975), while touring the world for three years.

  • My brother Paul has been a serious H&T / DP III and IV / GH fan since his teens and yet was never able to accompany me to any gigs in the past, though he was blown away by PAL at around the age of 16. I told him some months ago that he had to see GH live before it was too late, especially on this particular upcoming UK tour, and was about to buy him and his wife tickets for a gig when he decided to surprise me with a ticket too.

I never expected to see GH live again. So much love and passion for almost all of his music over many years, and that will stand until the end of my time, but listening to the likes of 'Into the Void' and 'You Keep On Movin' on the Burning Japan Live album will always stir my soul - 'hello dude.' Cancer surgery, chemotherapy, and soon radiotherapy treatment have almost taken my passion for music; they've certainly taken my strength.

In our teens, for Paul it was most definitely the 'Burn' album. For me, even though 'Mistreated' will resonate with me always, it was 'Come Taste The Band.' My first gigs were with my brother, and the upcoming one will be the ultimate for us both.

'You thought that you could take me for granted, but I couldn't take it no more. Better run if you see me coming ... '

  • Read somewhere - and I cannot remember where - that Glenn was going to play 'Burn' in its entirety? Anyone else heard that rumour?

it would be good to have a different setlist for this part of the tour. Saw him in Glasgow on this tour last year an he was on top form, but would like to hear some other tracks from the Mk3 and 4 era live.

  • Glenn sends his regrets that he is unable to perform his UK tour which was due to start May 14th through May 24th. He needs to be treated for an illness that while not life threatening, must be dealt with immediately in order for it to not become a serious problem. He is expected to make a full recovery and be back on the road in June.

Info to follow shortly on tickets.

  • Hopefully this 2nd leg will have a bit of a set list change and bring in Lay Down Stay Down, Lady Double Dealer, Gypsy, Love Child, Owed to G etc

Firstly all in GH land, enjoy the gigs.Their is so much more Glenn could do to make the set list more exciting. Hopefully he will pull something out the bag to distinguish this run of dates.
