"Knust" (pronounced Knoost), the venue where Glenn, Pontus and Doug are going to play this evening, is hardly the ideal place for convinced vegetarians. It's located on the premises of a former cattle slaughterhouse. People walking over from the nearby tube station are greeted by a massive bull.
But I'm sure the band won't be butchered tonight
Welcome to Hamburg, guys. Let's rrrrrrock the house tonight! http://www.glennhughes.com//ww…com/pin/create/extension/
This time I did not take a many pix as I did on the previous tours. I just wanted to enjoy the gig without a camera permanently in front of my nose.
Here are a few though, hope you like them. Report will follow.
Glenn Hughes at Knust Hamburg, 1st October 2015
Since I had booked the VIP package, I had to be at the venue quite early, by 5:15 pm. Unfortunately the guest list was delivered a bit late and two people didn’t show up at all so that the door finally opened for us around 6:30. We were greeted by our host and received all our goodies. We were then permitted into the hall where the band was warming up with „Stormbringer“. After that we moved back into the bar area and five minutes later Glenn came out. He took his time with each of us, chatting with us, signing a lot of memorabilia and finally photos were taken. Then we had to leave again until the door officially opened again.
Knust is a nice venue, offering real club atmosphere. I stayed at the bar with a couple from Cologne and we watched Jared James Nichols via a large screen. They were amazingly good, another powerful trio and thus the perfect support for Glenn. During the last two songs I went into the hall and pushed my way into the second row. The venue might not have been sold out, nevertheless the place was packed. The small hall was full, the balcony was full and people were standing on the stairs leading up to it. At 10:05 the intro started, the guys came on the stage and an explosion unfolded which lasted for two solid hours.
I have never seen Doug Aldrich live before and I thought: My God, why didn’t Purple snatch him before they hired Steve Morse (sorry, Steve). He is an incredible guitarist with a lot of feeling. I was reminded of the clips from Bologna, where he played with Glenn a few years ago.
Pontus is an absolute animal behind his kit. His beats were so precise and hard, that’s why he’s wearing the gloves, as he later told me. After all that work, he wasn’t even one bit tired, he said.
And Glenn? Probably the hardest working man of the evening and loving every minute of it. His voice was to die for and gave me goosebumps. Later I talked to a few people who had never seen him before, they were floored.
One thing was obvious: Glenn is happy on this tour, very relaxed, content, communicating with the crowd a lot.
After two hours the show ended, but even those two hours were not enough. I had planned to take some notes for the setlist, but I completely forgot about it. Honestly, what do I care about a setlist when beautiful music is hammering in my ears and in my soul!
Unfortunately I did not meet Doug, although I waited for an hour by the tour bus. But Pontus came out, chatted with us and signed some photos. A really nice guy. He confirmed what Glenn had told during the show: They will return to Europe after the first leg of the US tour.
Buying the VIP upgrade package is highly recommended by me, it is something special.

Glenn,
You thanked me for my support here Well, my dear, you can be sure that you will have my support, in whatever way, for as long as we both walk on this planet. Because you simply deserve it
I hope the dog book is an interesting read and not too scientific, to while away the long hours on the tour bus.
Again, sincere thanks for everything you signed for me, good luck for the rest of the tour and all love.
X
P. S. Would you please tell that gorgeous bear of a drummer that he has won a new fan And that it is not true that nobody wants to talk to the drummer.

Somehow I mixed up two photos and double posted one of them. Here is the one I originally intended to upload.http://www.glennhughes.com//ww…com/pin/create/extension/
Yvonne, i loved to read your detailled report from the concert in Hamburg.
I was in Zoetermeer and had a overhelming Glenn Hughes ft. Douglas Aldrich experience too.
So i 'd agree with your review in all points. Needless to say Glenn again sung like a god, I'd say even he gets better from time to time.
And that is also the fantastic band giving him a flying carpet to jump on.
Mr. Aldrich is now for me the biggest surprise, not only by his bluesy sensitive playing but also by his symphatetic stage presence.
Never heard "Black Country" better.
And Pontus, i had the chance to talk to this nice guy a bit after the Show, blew me away with his powerdrumming. Because he is a Rock n'roll and a funkmachine.
This band should produce the next GH Album!!
