New Band... soon

  • As you all know, Glenn is in the midst of forming a new band. He's been crisscrossing the globe for the past few months and will soon be able to announce all the details.

It's taken a little longer than originally planned due to various issues, such as his unexpected foot surgery this past Summer, but now he's raring to go and in the midst of completing song writing for the new music.

I thought I'd start this thread vs. spreading question & answers across multiple threads, so where any of that has taken place, those threads have been closed, since focus on the new band can be put here now ;)

Once any announcements are made, this thread will be closed out too!

Meantime, Glenn just gave us all an update today... as he says, "expect the unexpected" :p

Ok GH peeps: the music to the songs Are pretty much done...#swagger #rock #supergrooves #emotional & #EPIC GH

  • Hello David,

Don't we already know who's in the band? :D

Isn't it Bonham & Watt?

Or is Glenn recording with them For other projects?

I am just chomping at the bit for GH music!

  • Norum, Donati, Sherinian.......don't mind me, just thinking out loud :)

so light a candle in the window.......
i will be coming home tonite

  • I would love to see Glenn work with Norum again!

I think Face The Truth was one of the best albums GH ever did!

The others are Hughes/Thrall, Burn, Medusa & Afterglow & Addiction

Whoever is in the band, I'll be happy as long as the music is like BCC

or any albums above! I just hope it's nothing like his last solo album

    which I still don't like! :(

  • is this a new GH solo band or a completley new band project? Have to say i expect Jason to be in the band!!!

  • The "totally" unexpected would be Coverdale on backing vocals and Blackmore on guitar. somehow i doubt that but maybe RB could lay down a few solos if they send him the backing tracks.

I keep thinking Slash would be a great link up with Glenn as both have the the ability to come up with the riffs but again he's got other projects. maybe KOC is the only hookup they'll do.

if it is Andrew 50 Watt and Jason then the only question is who's the keyboard player - if there is one!

overall i'll just be happy with any release as its been a while since we had one.

    :ghcp: "It's in my blood"

  • As much as Andrew Watt may be popular/ recognised as an emerging talent, I don't think all the secrecy would be warranted.

A 'big' name is surely in the pipeline or else this is in danger of being a damp squib

    Cheers,
    Ben !!

  • I am more interested in the style of music this new band will play, with BCC we had 70's classic rock with some great tracks but was of limited interest to me.

What makes Glenn unique is ability to combine soul funk and rock, what I hope we get is something in the style of F.U.N.K , Building the machine,Feel and Trapeze etc.

If I want classic 70's rock I have plenty of old Purple and Zepplin stuff.

So far there has been no hint about a keyboarder. Maybe they will have one guesting like in Whitesnake.

More important to me is that in this band/project Glenn and his new manager will have "the pants on". We certainly don't need another hanky-panky like the one with BCC and J&R Adventures.

  • the keyword here was swagger. make us proud Big Daddy :singer:

  • I hope it's funky, groovy, catchy with strong songs.

To be honest, I am very curious about what Glenn and Watt (and Bonham) can come up with together.

I like this Watt track a lot, Traveler. It shows he can write catchy tunes -> good! It would be cool if the new project went in a similar direction: a bit more modern and contemporary where BCC was more retro and backward looking, if you will. Although I don't know how Bonham would play to a track like this ;)
