Yes a great review and a well written one at that! Tony is a great writer.
This album is going to be one of the "good" ones I think. I love the first two for sure. Its looking like they may have surpassed those with this one. Can't wait to hear it!! -
That's one cool review. Now I can't wait to hear the album...

It seems that there are sparks flying everywhere in Afterglow! Hope the band can get their **** sorted out!

An excellent 4 star review of the album can be found in Issue 83 of the October 2012 UK based, Bass Guitar Magazine
Funny... it reads like a GH solo album reviewbut granted it is from a bass guitar mag!

Really hoping BCC gets some radio play over here. The rock station where I love is very corp playlist controlled. still worth trying to request!!!!!!!!

An 80 out of 100 review
www.lordsofmetal.nl/showreview.phpQuote...the absolute star of the show is singer Glenn Hughes with his fantastic vocal parts. Once more he proves that his given nickname of "The Voice Of Rock" suits him like a glove.

amazing !!
thanks ! -
Another one on musicstreetjournal.com. The reviewer certainly reads Glenn's tweets...
QuoteThis time out, Glenn Hughes brought to the table a bunch of songs that weren't originally intended for this group. They were tracks he was working on for a solo album.

5-star review
www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=13446Quote...this is an album that stands on its own and instantly reveals its greatness.
There is surely a different feel to Afterglow when compared to BCC's first two releases. Perhaps there's more of a 'Glenn Hughes' vibe overall, but as fantastic as those first two albums were, this one has a little more variety, as the songs hit on '70s hard rock, some bluesy funk, and some '80s heavy rock styles. -
got a 8/10 on the french magazine Rock Hard !!
-
The hype is real! So glad "Afterglow" is receiving so much love all over the world :p

Another good review of Glenn and the latest from BCC...
http://getreadytorock.me.uk/blog/2012/10/black-country-communion-afterglowQuote‘Afterglow’ is essentially a Glenn Hughes solo album given extra impetus and depth by the band.

I've been lucky enough to have a few days with the new music, so thought I'd share my impressions
So I've got to tell you… this is one helluva of recordwith the opener "Big Train" blazing the trail straight off the bat! What a tremendous start, to what many are thinking could be the end of this juggernaut ride… hopefully this is not the case!
It's great to hear so many Glenn Hughes touches throughout the album, his lyrics especially; darker, emotionally charged and celebratory at times, give you an insight into both where he was at while in writing mode and no doubt during the brewing turmoil within, that has now overflowed into the public domain!
As a Glenn Hughes fan and this genre of music, revived by BCC, there's lots to celebrate here… you could easily be mistaken for thinking this is his long awaited solo album! In fact, some of these songs wouldn't be out of place on any number of his previous endeavors!!
Having said that, this collection still manages to have the stamp of a collaborative effort… it's especially good to know, that Jason Bonham is a primary collaborator. Fast becoming my favorite tracks are the one's co-penned by himself and Glenn, "This Is Your Time" and "Common Man" ~ two standouts for sure.
Other highlights for me, include the title number, "Afterglow", with Glenn's indelible stamp all over it; would love to hear that one with a full orchestra behind them and then there's no mistaking, "Dandelion", as such a Glenn Hughes song - he owns it! Absolutely love it!! "The Giver", with a nod to Led Zep in places, for me tells the story of someone who unshackles their fears and is not afraid of change and in fact, embraces it… very insightful! One other HUGE number is "The Circle", with the band as a whole, in full swing throughout, but highlighted by Glenn's lyrics and ever commanding vocals.
With a welcome and ever present appearance permeating across the album by Derek Sherinian this time around and a thunderous drum workout by Jason Bonham, the one you notice lacking the most here, is Joe Bonamassa, but when he does show up, he certainly shines and good to hear him breaking out of his tried and trusted mould; such as on "Confessor", "Afterglow" and "Crawl". So it's a real shame, he and his organization seem to have decided to deny BCC fans worldwide the chance to hear this new material in a live setting. But we can live in hope; so we'll have to wait and see how that works out!
Overall, this is the BCC masterpiece and jewel in the crown; I was really hoping and waiting for and third time is definitely the charm! While the first two were classics in and of themselves; for me, this is most definitely the standout album in the trilogy of the studio recordings and includes Glenn sounding at the top of his game; lyrically, vocally and most impressive of all for me, his bass playing.
Now… NEXT -
merci beaucoup David...

Another good one
http://rockunitedreviews.blogs…-communion-afterglow.htmlQuoteI find it hard to pick favorite tracks as this is very much the band album effort like in the good old days? Crises what crisis? They've never sounded more alive and on their toes. Highly recommended.
