So far the only solo gig by the great DON AIREY is on 14th September at De Boerderij in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. A good change to see a superb player in a smalller venue (DP only play large shows). You can expect Purple songs, like Child in time (DP don't play this anymore since 1995), Rainbow: like All night long, Since you been gone or I surrender, some Ozzy stuff like Bark at the moon, Whitesnake like Is this love and some Gary Moore tunes. And of course some solo stuff. If you near by at that date: go and see this show, it's a lot of fun and music-adventure

Are you sure it's July, Willem? I know of four dates in September in Holland, Germany, Austria and Switzerland

I think it's september...

A complete All Out tour has been announced. The DON AIREY touring band is another chapter of the Purple Sabbath connection, because DON's bassplayer is Lawrence Cottle, who was a few months THE bassplayer in Black Sabbath. He played on the very good, but under rated album Headless Cross

DON AIREY Friday 14th September in Zoetermeer was great. Nice to see our Stormbringer74 again! Standing less than 2 meters in front of DON, seeing how he played: SUPERB. Lots of great songs like Spotlight kid, Child in time (tribute to JON: Carl Sentence sang this song perfect, even hitting the highest notes: very strong), All Night Long, Still of the Night (DON is the original keyboard player on the studio version of this Whitesnake classic: superb to hear him live on this song), Is This Love and encore Black Night.
DON is a real genius on the keyboard. I'm happy that I have the chance to see him again in december with Deep Purple in Amsterdam -
great to see you again my friend and this gig was really really good.. I was at the next show at Kerkrade (Rock temple) on saturday and it was not so good because the sound and the light were not so good.. but th band is ok.. great week end anyways

I saw the show in Vienna the other day, and it turned out to be a Pruple-related double feature since Nick Simper opened, backed by the local 'Nasty Habits'.
I got a lot of 'ohs' and 'look at this' from bystanders when I got a Warhorse poster signed during the break!
Don Airey & Band were on fire! That was a Classic Rock (no fillers, all killers) set from the beginning all through to the end with high-level musicianship.
Carl Sentance is one hell of a singerhitting high notes en masse, always spot on, never flat!
Rob Harris (Jamiroquai et al) on guitar - brilliant. This guy can play anything! Seriously. From Blackmore, to Gary Moore, John Sykes. Anything.
Add the rhythm section of Alex Meadows (bass - tons of credits too) and Tim Brown. Excellent!
Don plays more Hammond these days than he probably ever has.
His introdution to the Gary Moore medley was absolutely priceless. Went something like "We'll start with a piece from the Colosseum II days called 'The Inquisition' (laughs) ... good luck, guys!"
In the end I also got my 'K2 - Tales of Triumph and Tragedy' CD signed, with Don noticing "ah, an original!".
A great evening!
Cheers,
Christian -
