If you mean the Paperback edition - it is published the first week of November. The limited editions take some time to be individually made once the order is received, so somewhat longer delivery times.

I ordered my copy already but honestly I dont expect too much of it since Tony Iommi never was much of a talker or mentioning anything (troubles etc) in the media. Also he seems to have forgotten the other era's other than Ozzy and Dio... I hope Im wrong ... we'll wait and see

I will so look forward to reading this book when the paperback is out there. In the meantime, I've been told that Keith Richards' book is awesome so will be buying that at the weekend. Any of you read that one? Can you recommend any other autobiographies (the only thing I do read really)? My favourite read (still) is Nikki Sixx' The Heroin Diaries.

Btw, I have the paperback "Deep Purple - The Illustrated Biography" written by Chris Charlesworth with some input from Jon Lord and Roger Glover. When I bought it back in 1983, I paid what would now be 16 Euros. Recently I checked amazon.de for it, it's being offered at 394 Euros!!

Should you ever find this at an affordable price, I can highly recommend it. Excellent document about the history of DP

Yes, the book of Richards gets quite good critics. I didn't read a lot of (auto)biographies but some time ago the autobiography of Tina Turner was very interesting and touching to read: "I, Tina".
When I just googled a bit I thought that Tony Visconti: The Autobiography: Bowie, Bolan and the Brooklyn Boyhttp://www.amazon.com/Tony-Vis…&qid=1313533540&sr=1-18#_ might be good to read as well.
But I didn't trust my eyes when I just discovered the "biographies" of Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Whaaaat? Crazy world.
I'm still waiting and very much looking forward for Glenn's autobiography...

WOW! i bought this when it came out too and its still in excellent condition. not looked at it for years.

I also have Ian Gillan's autobiography Child In Time (1993) and this is now £35 on Amazon! This is a very open and honest account of his career up to that point (Battle Rages On)

The IG autobiography that came out in 1998 i haven't read but a reviewer on amazon says this

"It's a heartbreaking & very honest book - it's similar to the book that was released later on named "The autobiography of Deep Purple's leadsinger" - but it's NOT the same book. Some chapters has been changed, edited, altered and even removed. Some of the TRUTHS in this book, about his contribution in Black Sabbath for example and the way he let down the members of his band Gillan, has been changed or removed - it's all in this book, but not in the more recent "autobiography..."! Ian really take the lid of his private life and tells about the women, the weddings, the love of his wife and her struggle with him and against cancer, his daughter, the fans, the friends and musicians, the economy, the highlights and the darkness, Purple and solo..."

Wow indeed, Wolfy, that's what I thought when I saw that hefty price. Didn't know what treasure I have.

I too have the Child in Time. Always wondered about the other autobiography, how it would differ. I'm sure I will buy that one day too when I find it at a reasonable price.

Something else i have in the reading material dept is a copy of Record Collector, Xmas 2004 edition. This has a 17 page feature on Deep Purple including full UK discography, brief interviews with every member there has ever been, and a list of the top 10 rarities and bottom 10 turkeys.

I paid 99p for it in a charity shop last year and its now worth a cool £2.80 plus postage on amazon!

Shirl, there's a book in the pipeline which, I believe, is right after our heart. It's from Colin Hart, who used to be roadie and tour manager for Purple, Rainbow and then Purple again for over 30 years. Just imagine all the stories he can tell. Hope this will come as paperback too.

Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) who was in London, UK earlier today, met up with the publishers, of Glenn's Autobiography (Foruli), "Deep Purple & Beyond: Scenes from the Life of a Rock Star"].
