Review i ripped from The Times yesterday - paper got ripped so had to type it!
"Brazenly vintage in its hard blues-rock sound, this slick supergroup's latest set of Man's Music is a relentlessly robust haul - and it'll be pure catnip to its core constituency (gents with, perhaps, a taste for classic muscle cars and memories of Knebworth 79). Glenn Hughes's wail drips with defiant levels of testosterone. Jason Bonham's pounding does his old man proud, while Joe Bonamass's axe abilities add the zing. On the turbocharged The Outsider or the electric-acoustic Battle For Hadrian's Wall these heavy duty AOR maestros aren't far off matching their iconic forebears - Deep Purple and Led Zep. No mean feat."

Amazon let me down. Still not shipped as of Thursday (6/16). So much for their pre-order system.
I had to run out to get it at Best Buy (good deal at $9.99) today to give me a maximum number of listens for Saturday's show.
After 3 whole listens and cherry picking the live set list (what can I say? I'm weak. I peeked) tunes, I'm diggin' the new release a lot ... at first listen(s), probably more than than the original. -
Great review of "2" from the July/August 2011 issue of UK music publication, "Classic Rock Society"

Another stellar online review of "2"

Mine arrived Monday and been playing it ever since
First off I have to say the "limited edition" packaging is excellentthis is what all cds should be like. top marks just for the embossed front alone!
As for the album, WOWExcellent all round
I cant name a favourite as there are so many i would give 10/10.
Have to say i'm not too keen on Hadrian's Wall - but maybe that's because of where it is in the tracklisting? i think it should have been further in cos after the two opening full-on rockers its a bit of a step back in tempo.
This really is like every other review says, a real slab of 70s style "classic" rock with monster riffs, wailing vocals, crunching guitar and thumping drums. I'd still like to hear a bit more of a Jon Lord Hammond attack here and there though.
Although lots of reviews rightly mention Led Zep, Purple, Bad Company etc, i think GHCPs like us would say there's plenty of GH solo stuff in there.
Higher Places and Gasoline from SITKOR wouldn't be out of place on the album for instance.
Comparing 2 to everything else Glenn has done is difficult because his range, style and back catalog is so vast but for me this is better than the first BCC album and as good or better than anything else he's ever done.
I can see myself playing this every day for months!
Cant wait till Manchester -
Classic rock said this albums a grower,I'm now on my fifth listen and I have to agree, as opposed to being blown away I feel I've been gently lifted then fired into the stratosphere.
The genre we all know and love has been lovingly and expertly represented. A future classic surely -
I got a copy at Best Buy Tuesday. And this time I didn't have to have somebody go into the back to get it like last year with BCC1, the copies were right there where they belong!. Ten bucks plus tax, what a steal!

A couple initial thoughts...
Upon first listen BCC 2 is more accessible than the first album. I'm glad to hear Derek Sherinian is much more prominent in the mix than on the first album.
Something about Kevin Shirley's production still rubs me the wrong way. I find myself wishing someone like Andy Johns had recorded and produced the album.
I love how the new album artwork complements the artwork of the debut.
Great tunes. I love "The Battle for Hadrian's Wall" and "Smokestack Woman".
I wish I'd been able to catch the date a couple hours south of here in SLC. The timing was awkward for me though, because it was sandwiched between two other trips I had planned. When it rains it pours.. -
A great review plus interview and more can be found in the latest issue of UK music magazine, "Fireworks" - out now!
