Mountain of Power cover version of Monkey

  • Mountain of Power 2 is out now!

Ok, you've probably not even heard the first album...... i havent either :p

However, this release features a cover of Monkey from the 1976 album "Trapeze" featuring guys from Rufus Huff on vocals and guitar

you can hear a quick snippet on myspace here

more details of the album here

    and here

John Norum and Craig Erickson feature on a track each so a couple of other connections with Glenn.

  • My impression of most of the tracks on the 1976 Trapeze self titled collection is that they came out of jamming as opposed to songs that were worked up at home and then played for the other band members. "Monkey" sounds like something the guys were jamming on and the lyrics came after the fact. "Hold On", by comparison, sounds as though Mel and Pete Goalby brought their songs to the table already mapped out. I did point that out to Mel in an e-mail some time back.

And every bit as obscure as that rap tune that sampled lines from "Jury"!
