He was clever and talented that is for sure, no doubt far greater an artist than what he is given credit for as the 'Prince of Pop'. As for his personal life, well we all have one don't we? Was he misunderstood? Did his sweetness and naivity trip him up? Or did he really do bad things? Not for me to decide, he's either all on fire right now or floating on a cloud! I hope he is at peace! Such a huge shock!

A troubled genius whose legacy has impacted generations, and informed pop culture for the last couple decades. He was a dynamic performer, creative choreographer, gifted songwriter and as I read the headlines it still doesn't seem real.
RIP Michael Jackson.

The word superstar is thrown around so much that it's hard to realize it,
when you're really talking about one.
MJ was light years ahead of everone else.....his music, his choreography.
As for his personal life, perhaps this might seem to be a strong statement;
but I hope that his father burns in hell.
Rest in peace, Michael.

RIP michael jackson...
despite that i wasn't a huge fan though
but rest in peace mike...
thanks for the topic -
Just terrible, certainly one of my musical influences...I was emotionless until I was doing some research on Billie Jean today and saw the picture of him on that lit up sidewalk...I just totally lost it man...Took me back to being 15 years old when the video and song were out. The concert I went to 20 years ago was fantastic.

Hi JohnH - yeah I was watching one of the numerous tributes last night and all my childhood memories of MJ came back too! The very first casette album I owned at around 6 years old was Bad, and I listened to it to death in the kitchen while my folks would be watching Emerdale Farm, I would spend most nights singing and dancing my heart away in the kitchen! To remember the ecstatic way that felt at 6 years old was very powerful, and in an ironic way - it's memories like that that make some of the worse childhood memories ok to live with. The guy has always had my backing. It's going to be one hell of a funeral!

His music was very much part of my growing-up process ie always being played at discos/clubs, & the Jackson 5 song "Looking through the Windows" was my Mum's favourite.
The same DJs that referred to him as 'Wacko Jacko' are now ceaselessly playing his music as if they are truly in mourning - hypocrites!
Will be missed......
RIP Michael -
I think our very own Achim Schreiner paid the highest tribute of all...check out his Facebook page....his performance of "Beat It" is quite stirring!
