The venue for the upcoming show in New York City, The Highline Ballroom, on Saturday, March 28th, 2009 has just instituted an extremely strict curfew time!
Glenn will be Onstage at 8:00PM prompt and the venue has made Curfew at 9:30PM. Yes, you read that right!! This also has the unfortunate side effect of Glenn and band, being unable to do a Meet'n'Greet.
This is totally out of Glenn's control and he's forced to adhere to this extreme and highly unusual arrangement.
As a reminder, the venue's Doors Open at 6:00PM and the evening of music begins at 7:00PM with a support band, Luke Mulholland (www.lukemulholland.com).
Please spread the word, thanks.
For those attending the gig the night before in Foxboro, MA. on the 27th and for the lucky few, who were confimed for the private event the night after in New York City, on the 29th, there will be no such restriction in place and also the Whisky A Go Go gig on April 4th in Los Angeles, California

at least at BB King's , they wouldn't be throwing us out. Do they even know who Glenn Hughes is and how fortunate they are to have him playing at their club ? why do we have to sit through a warm up act if there is such a time limitation ?
-
Yeah Bart, that is really a poor use of the club by the ownership/management
They should be wanting Glenn to play all night long. Well at least at the Whiskey we'll get a longer night !!
It will still be incredible though -
I am with Bart on this. I don't even know who this opening act is. I have nothing against him of course. But we all paid to see Glenn in his full glory.
I racked my brains and I remember two instances at clubs where the club was slow at getting earlier events over with. This is a different case but in these two events the opening act played a full set and the band we paid to see didn't even play as long!! That isn't right.
With these circumstances couldn't the opening act start earlier? 6:30 maybe? Or not at all? I mean if everything goes dead on schedule we are getting a 90 minute set. These things rarely do though for one reason or another. There is no room for error here and that's a lot to ask of anyone.
Glenn, all we diehards care about is seeing you and your band, doing your full set. It is such a rare opportunity and to not have that is extremely disappointing. I know you are at the mercy of others here but I guess we are hoping that there are things you can do to make the absolute most of this horrible situation. I find it hard to believe that there is no way to turn this into a night that nobody will ever forget and for all good reasons.
We'll be there though come hell or high water. There's nowhere I'd rather be.
PEACE

Every Saturday night at 11:00, the venue turns into an "upscale" 80's type club running what is entitled "The Rewind Show" (which is clearly noted on the Highline Ballroom Website calendar).
This "Rewind Show" is successful and even has it's own website in addition to it's mention on the Highline site.
So, it's not a late change of plans. Maybe the venue neglected to mention this originally to Mr. Hughes' team, maybe it was mentioned and the decision was made to switch from the smaller BB Kings location anyway.
It is disappointing, but I guess a little bit of Mr. Hughes is better than no Mr. Hughes at all. -
It is disappointing, but I guess a little bit of Mr. Hughes is better than no Mr. Hughes at all.... and all that very well may be true, but speaking as one of those who travels more than some and less than some others, We just wanna see our Papa. Speaking as A) a business man and B) a member of the general public who will drop 1,000 $ to see my man any time that i can, it sure seems absurd to tell all of us GHPG freak- flag flying mothers and axe murdurers that we can only have our yearly family reunion for an hour and 1/2. I know that I'm one of the lucky ones who are saying "thank God for Sunday night".

The strict curfew thing is a bummer. Setting the time limit for Glenn leaves no room for the encore mode. Getting rushed out of the venue right away as soon as the show ends is no fun either.
I'm not sure when I'll be arriving or departing from NYC but has a place been organized where people from the board are meeting up? It would be cool to meet some of you. -
That really does suck. Hopefully the venue will be as strict with the opening act as they are being with Glenn. Overall, this sounds like a nicer venue that B.B. King's, so I'm still stoked about it.
I'm sure Glenn's show will make up in intensity what it will lack in duration.
I'm also up for a get-together, BTW. I'll be arriving in NYC early on Saturday afternoon and staying at a hotel in the East Village. -
I will also be arriving early on Saturday. I absolutely want to meet up with everyone. So whoever wants to meet up Saturday afternoon PM me and I'll give you my cell #.
It's all so close now! I can feel it!! -
I just spoke to David. Glenn will now go on at 7:45pm at the Highline Ballroom in NYC.
HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!!
Cheers,

Hi, I'm new to this forum but not new to being a Glenn Hughes fan. I got a an 'invitation' to the Sunday night event at John Varvatos in NYC but I'm not exactly sure what I got an invitation to. I was planning on going to the Highline Ballroom show but saw the listing for the 29th in NYC the other day and sent a e-mail and got a response that I'm 'on the list'. I have never seen Glenn in concert and I can only make it to one or the other. I obviously know that Saturday night is a concert but what is Sunday supposed to be? Is Glenn and band doing a concert at the store or is he just making an appearance at some kind of event? Trying to call the store for more info but didn't really get anywhere....
Thanx, -Pete. -
He's playing a concert. That's great your on the list GO!
Cheers,
Shirean -
I can only make it to one or the other. .
wasn't sure what would be the better bet tonight (Saturday) or tomorrow (the Sunday night thing). Ahh if only I could do both...... -
Highway Star,
I don't know if you made it to the Highland show last night (great show, of course) or if you're comming tonight to the private gig, which will be another great show of course, but I just wanted either way to give you our official welcome to the club/web site/posting board greeting. We always love having more and more of Glenn's fans join us on here. lots of great stuff on here to look at and read. the picture gallery has great stuff, photos and videos and as David says,, "remember that 'search' is your friend".
peace, -
Thanx for the welcome 'purplemusic' and the info regarding the forum. I have been a member of a Corvette Forum for about 7 years and am familiar with how forums work and that's where I started using the Hwy St*r moniker. Didn't know this one existed until I hit the link from Glenn's site about the 'no meet n greet' for the NY show. I've been a fan of all things purple since early 70's but have never seen Glenn perform and am looking forward to what I hope will be a really memorable evening tonight at Varvatos event.
