Well, it's quite a day today in America. I've just finished watching television coverage of the inaugural ceremony, wherein Barack Obama was sworn in as 44th President of the United States of America. Immediately preceding his taking of the oath of office, there was a moving piece of music played by a quartet featuring Itzak Perlman and Yo Yo Ma. And following Obama's first address to the nation, one of Glenn's lyrics came immediately to mind: "In this crazy world, you must change yourself...In this open road, you must change yourself."
No matter how popular his policies and actions, no president is going to please everyone - there will always be detractors harping about something. I just hope that all Americans, whether they voted for Obama or not, will support the man in his Herculean task of righting this badly listing ship and setting sail for less troubled waters. And as he does so, I hope credit is given where credit is due.
Cheers...Todd

Change has come...

Heartfelt words Todd.
Can't wait to get home from work and watch as much as possible about this great, great day.
Sam Cooke's lyrics never seemed so poignant as now. -
I was thinking as I watched the Inauguration, about my
Santore, Lucchini, Di Barbieri, and Rovegno ancestors,
who got on leaky Italian boats to come to the New World,
not having a clue what was ahead of them in this......MED-IC-AH.
Filled with hope.
As we are today.

I usually don't watch this stuff, but today was different...it really seems like this may actually be a huge turning point for us as a nation...and from the many teary-eyed people in the crowd, it seems that many are holding onto this hope for a brighter tomorrow...as they should.
What got me the most though, was seeing people in other countries as they watched intently...let's hope that this new era will mark a beginning of the end of the animosity that comes towards America from outside our borders...what many people didn't understand was that a good majority of us hated Bush and his policies even more than they did.
I just wish someone would have given Bush a swift kick in the ass on the way out. Geez...He couldn't have done a crappier job if he tried...SEEYA! -
Folks, the Fan Forum is a political free zone
so feel free to comment, but elsewhere, thanks.

Sorry, thought it would be Ok in the "off topic" forum.
"Off Topic Post news & views on other music or unrelated topics such as sport etc, that you think fellow fans of Glenn might like."
I missed the part about no politics! (though it's probably here somewhere!)
Please please please don't take this as a slam, it isn't...just thought it was important enough to relay feelings about this emotional day...you're right I'm sure...my bad... -
Sorry, my bad. I didn't realize. Feel free to delete this inappropriate thread.
