If that doesn't make you wonder, I don't know what will.

You have to see it to believe it

so stated my friend's Uncle Lucien when my friend Adam was playing the piano in the living room...;)
That is too much; reminds me of the muttered aside from one of the musicians on Cozy Powell's "Over The Top" album. Just before Cozy counts off "El Sid", someone says "I've killed bass players for less than that.." a jibe directed at Jack Bruce.
And I thought that guys who played for Buddy Rich had it rough; he was notorious for firing musicians when they hit clams onstage -

Yes and the audio tapes of him going off on band members are worth seeking out. Hilarious. No wonder the guy died the way he did...all that anger.

It didn't take long to find the Buddy Rich tapes on the Net...apparently a somewhat disgruntled musician hid a tape recorder under his coat and secretly taped Buddy's expletive laced, acid tongued harangues....I think the gist of Buddy's mindset was that he demanded perfection and 100% focus and dedication...and if he felt it was lacking he minced no words in letting the players know how he felt.
In fairness to Mister Rich, there are just as many musicians who will defend him and state that he was not the tyrant that these recordings paint him to be...
In the late 1980's MUSICIAN magazine had a joke section on the back page....the gist of one joke was that the young jazz musician keeps calling Buddy's house and his widow keeps telling him that Buddy has passed away...finally his widow asks the the musician why he keeps calling only to be be told Buddy is dead...His reply is "I know, but I love hearing it.."
The owner of Manny's Music in NYC wasn't laughing at all; he wrote a short but stinging reply the following month stating that he would never carry MUSICIAN magazine in the store again and that they owed Buddy's family an apology.
Whether he followed through on his promise, I am not sure...
