That was a lengthy and somewhat bittersweet read too. You got the whole Quiet Riot story in great detail about the twists and turns of the band with members joining and leaving....and a fair amount of success in between!

But you also hear a far too common tale of naivete and bad business deals....who would have thought that Kevin, Frankie and the guys saw so little money form the great success of "Metal Health" because they were so determined to get a deal that they never stopped to read the fine print. They weren't the first band to do it and they won't be the last. No one was looking out for the band and they weren't savvy enough to take of the business themselves.

I have the book "Gallagher, Marriott, Derringer, Trower", a four part essay, each section dealing with the aforementioned artists. All four sections tell of success, excess, tragedy and triumph.....Rory Gallagher was ripped off blind of all the money from Taste, Steve Marriott made and lost a fortune, Rick Derringer saw little if anything from his early success with the The McCoys and even was ripped off as an adult and Robin Trower had success that should have left him set for life...but it was not to be.

The most important stories told are what NOT to do....and the section on Robin Trower features lengthy and insightful commentary from Robin's longtime manager, Derek Sutton. His reflections are blunt, sometimes bitingly funny and pure Rock Biz 101. He goes into great detail about the business hassles Procol Harum endured, most of which were self inflicted. His observations about the touring scene in the US will answer a lot of questions as to why artists running the gamut from Bill Bruford to, well, our own Glenn Hughes have such difficulty mounting tours here. He managed Styx during their heyday and is credited in "This Is Spinal Tap" as being "the real Ian Faith". When Professor Sutton speaks, all you budding rock stars better listen up and take notes.

But one great aspect about the interview is reading about the friendship between Kevin and Frankie..and I remember the press release Frankie put out after Kevin passed away saying that without Kevin there is no more Quiet Riot.

Bill, you are very inciteful.

And to Kevin and your family and friends; I know I think of you often and how you were a giant supernova of energy any time I had the pleasure of seeing you.

i wasn't sure what to post, if anything when i first saw this thread. i want to say someting, but i'm not sure what to say.
