Glenn looks like a young boy!!!!

Hi All,

Just got back from a great weekend in the wonderful city of Madrid with of course the highlight being GH's incredible show on Friday evening at the Sala Heineken.

Prior to entering the venue a queue of well over 100 fans had gathered even before the doors were open!

The anticipation in the packed venue created an electric atmosphere and the Glenn Hughes FUNK backdrop was looking resplendent on the high stage.

As on the UK FUNK shows Glenn opened with four blistering back to back FUNK tracks signalling a statement of intent to the audience.

The crowd were going crazy and I noticed many young Spanish fans singing along to the new songs word for word.

Luis then played a beautifully melodic intro to Mistreated before playing those familiar opening powerchords which sent the crowd into raptures.

Glenn was relaxed and all the band were in fine form. The sound was clear, uncluttered and funky. Special mention must go to Luis who seems the perfect foil for Glenn. He played superbly throughout and sparred with GH during the Funkathon jams.

This was a high energy performance throughout, with numerous highlights, including all of the FUNK tracks played (these tracks were made for live performance) an extended, funky 'Steppin' On' and for me the live tour de force 'Don't Let Me Bleed.

An unexpected highlight of the show was Glenn swapping his bass for Luis' Fender Strat before playing a most sublime 'Coast to Coast' (dedicated to Mel)

Glenn encored with Soulmover complete with the 'Superstar' refrain and a high energy 'Burn'.

Comedic moment - after another jaw dropping vocal solo during 'Mistreated' Glenn & Band were just about to end the track with its usual crescendo when (at that crucial quiet moment) somebody's mobile phone went off! GH was totally unphased and suggested it was God tryng to send a message through!!
