Medusa Review

I forgot to mention that the above review is in the August issue of Classic Rock.

Hey Chip,
I will have to pick up the remastered "Medusa"...more car tunes! Here's hoping that "You Are The Music" gets the same treatment soon...
What better tribute to Mel than to give this classic the attention it deserves and it is cool that Glenn got to participate in the liner notes.
Another question; how does the sound quality stack up against the Japanese box set that came and went? I know that some of you were able to scarf it up before it went out of print.
And Chip..here's hoping that William DeVaughan doesn't get bumped off your iPod anytime soon! -
I've been a bad boy, Captain. I don't have the latest Medusa reissue/remaster yet.....in fact, I haven't even listened to the Japanese Trapeze box set
So I can't comment on any differences there might be.
William DeVaughn has a permanent spot on the ipod. He'll soon be joined by Timmy Thomas who had another great tune from the same era called Why Can't We Live Together? Remember that one?
Yesterday on the Ovation cable channel, I saw Steve Winwood do Why Can't We Live Together? on an old episode of Later with Jools Holland. I had seen that on You Tube, but was nice to see it in directly from the show. Great stuff.

Now that's a worthy review of my all time favorite album.
MEDUSA. Can't wait to get it ...again. -
Hey Chip,
"Ganster whitewalls, TV antennas in the back.." I had to listen to that on You Tube and they had the long version; I have the single versionon one of the volumes of Rhino Records' "Didn't It Blow Your Mind" collection.
And Timmy Thomas... I think I know now where Grand Funk Railroad got some of the inspiration for the instrumental "Genevieve" on the "Born To Die" album. On the remastered version of the album there is a rehearsal of "Genevieve" and as the guys start playing, Mark Farner is singing; "Everyone wants to live together...why can't we live together..." I didn't get the reference until I had XM on in the car..I was listening to the Soul channel and they played Timmy Thomas....I am wondering where I have heard that before....and it hits me....GFR even take a nod to the organ lick in the intro to "Genevieve"
And what is this about the box set? Don't tell you it is sitting on a shelf! Ccome on now...Yyou want a paperweight? Go get a can of Green Giant Creamed Corn!! There's your paperweight!!
Just razzing you....
