• Melville

I am so very sad to report the passing of my oldest friend Mel. He drifted into his Golden sleep @ 10pm last night. He is now with his higher power...he has come home.

I will cherish his memory and all the things that Mel shared with me in his full and rich life...but most of all, he showed me to live like a man. He took my hand as a boy and walked me thru my earliest chapters as a young musician....he alone is responsible 4 my career as a working musician/singer-songwriter.

Let's all remember Mel with love in our hearts and he wanted you all 2 know how overcome he was with the Global outpouring of love 4 him...he said to me "I had no idea, how many people cared and loved me".....he was the man, he was my childhood idol along with Jimi and Eric.

    You are the Music.

I'll see you in the Garden one day and I will recognise you as my brother.....

  • I'm stuck for anything better than that to say at this sad time.

Big love to everyone whose life has been touched by Mel, both as a musician & as a man.

  • We have all lost a dear friend in Mel Galley.

That band, that's somewhere up there...keeps getting better and better with each passing of a musical legend. No doubt they are jamming some Trapeze right now.

Glenn...it's time to add an encore to the setlist and finish the evenings with a blistering, in your face, rendition of a Trapeze tune :)

  • I'm sorry for your loss, Glenn. I also recently lost a friend of over 40 years that I grew up with, tight as brothers, so I unfortunately can relate.

You said Mel was your Jimi and Eric....mine, too. In fact, Trapeze was my "Beatles." A very major joy in my life was that I was able to tell Mel that very thing, and have also let you know as well.

Mel is at peace, God bless the man and the music.

  • A truly great loss to both those who knew him on a personal level and those whose lives he touched with his music. I listened to the 'You Are The Music...' album last night in tribute to him, and was reminded yet again how Mel could make every emotion-packed stroke of the guitar strings count : he could say in 5 notes what other guitarists struggle to convey in 50...

    Rest in peace Mel.

  • Glenn, our good friend.

Firstly, Karen and I would like to send our deepest sympathies to Mel's family and also yourself as you have lost a true friend and mentor.

Since the days when we ran the fan club we have known what Mel meant to you and from our first meeting back in '94 at the Trapeze reunion gig it was obvious what that band and Mel meant in your life. To this day that gig in Brierly Hill is one of the outstanding memories in our life and possibly the best gig of all time.

We will all miss Mel but his legacy is safe in your hands and the music of Trapeze is eternal, it will live forever.

Glenn - we're only a phone call away. Take care, pal.

  • Sorry to hear of Mel's passing, it seems he showed great dignity in his accepatnce of his illness.

I feel for all those who new him personaly, his wife and family and of course Glenn and all those he touched with his music.

May you be at peace. A life well lived.

  • Sorry to hear this news. Of course we all knew it was inevitable. It's just one of the things in this life that is never ever easy.

I wish only the best to all of his family and friends during this most difficult time.

    Peace

    John

  • Hi Glenn,
So sorry you lost your best friend in Mel.
Though I never met him, I felt I knew him through my friendship
with Tom. My thoughts & prayers will be with you & his family.
He was quite an amazing man & musician.

He will always rule in my world!

I was hooked the first time I heard him play.

  • I am very sad to hear about the death of Mel Galley. He was and still is a very talented guitarist, singer and songwriter. I like to thank him for the wonderful music that he made with Whitesnake, Trapeze and Phenomena. I will miss him a lot and my thoughts and condolences go to his family and friends and also to Glenn Hughes.

    Rest in Peace Mel
