See you there
But you have to know, that Glenn is simply not in that box where you'd like him to stay - you're not going to hear songs from... From Now On..., Addiction etc, etc again - you have the CD's...enjoy them...but Glenn is now in a place he wants to be and on his own terms. If you care to join him, he'll be more than happy for you to enjoy the ride, otherwise, savor his past work as you do, but Glenn has moved on and for me at least, that can only be a good thing -
yeah i understand your optamisum but there is nothing like a great band backing glenn, burning live japan was awsome thomas larsson was unbelivable and so was jj but come on where is the fire, doug aldridge has re-lit the whitesnake torch its time to rock, but if he is happy where he is with (same beat) chad smith then fair enough, maybe this will be the last time i will see glenn, ill wait until he rocks again then i will be at the front banging my head to the awsome sound of his bass line and piercing voice lets rock!!

The phrase 'You can't please all the people all the time" springs to mind here : just as some people lamented the 'missing' funk at the time of 'Addiction' etc, so some will miss the (heavier) rock now...personally, I love it all! -
It's true that no matter what someone puts out there is going to be those that don't like it. I came to Glenn's music from a heavy/hardrock standpoint myself. But as I went through his work it really started to sink into me so to speak.
As much as I love Addiction which ironically I am listening to now, it is clear to me that he is at his very best doing what he is doing now. If you haven't heard FUNK then do yourself a favor and do so. It may take you a couple spins. It took me a couple to really
"get it".
I really like the last two but this one to me is the genuine article. It captures the Glenn Hughes experience. It is THAT good. He really does deliver the goods this time.
I also love SITKOR. GREAT record! But when I want to experience that I go and put it on. It's there for us always. I love the constant progression. It's always something new.
Oh and come on! Chad does an excellent job! -
i understand where you are coming from,
iv'e followed Poppa for a long time ever since the feel tour ill not get the new cd until i here them live at bilston,
i love hearing Poppa live he is the best but ill go and see whitesnake also and Ratt and tesla and y&t and Dio all great bands and i think personaly thats what Poppa needs not session players but that is my opinion
i feel like the bad guy here
but if your going to any of these gigs ill see you there
long live Poppa G -
Ratt, Tesla, Dio and yes even Whitesnake???
Correct me if I'm wrong but these bands are imfamous for perpetual lineup changes! I don't know much about Tesla I must admit but the other bands always have new lineups. Dio? Other than when he plays with the Sabbs his band is always changing.
I don't know how one could listen to the new one and not be impressed by the band Glenn has assembled. The musicianship is first class. Every song has just the right dynamics. If you are looking for an all out assullt where they come at you a 100 mph then no it's not for you. This record has all the subtleties in all the right places. I was thinking today as I drove in here that in these songs he really mastered the less is more side of things. Sometimes it's not what you play but what you don't.
All that said there is plenty of great playing and as stated elswhere his bass playing is absolutely standout on this one. Just superb! It is the thing that drives the machine.
The bass it don't lie!!
At the end of the day it's like food though! Some love pizza and some just don't no matter how good it is. For me it's like sex, even when it's bad it's good
