EMI removed Stormbringer Remastered

  • Hello,

Ann Warburton from Darker Than Blue Ltd./DPAS said about Strombringer Remastered:

"EMI have removed it from the list. We are not sure why they have done this."

    Sad News!!!

Someone should make pressure on EMI!!!
    Maybe Glenn? Or we GHPG's?

  • EMI seem to be in big trouble. Their "big name" artists are leaving, sales are down, staff being sacked. It's no surprise if the Stormbringer remaster has been dropped, they probably view it as an inconvenience rather than an asset, which is sad for a once great label.

  • well, stormbringer is still listed on i-tunes. don't know if remastered. but, as a music store owner, i can say that i'm not surprised to see anything be pulled from availability outside of on line. people just dont come into music stores looking for music like they used to anymore. and i cant tell you how many times i've seen someone bring a cd up to the counter to buy it and have one of their buddys come up and say " oh dont buy that man, you can just burn it from me, or download it for cheaper" when glenn sang on a record years ago saying that "all i hear ...is burn" we'll he ( and david) didn't know how profectic they were really being.

  • Looks like I'll have to pick up the Friday Music remastered version after all. The Come Taste The Band version they released was pretty good I thought.

  • this thread should be locked, because here : http://fanforum.ghpg.net/showthread.php?p=32987#post32987 we can read this :

"According to the Deep Purple Appreciation Society, it looks like the wheels are turning again on the DEEP PURPLE "Stormbringer" remaster. The album, which was originally issued in November 1974, will be re-released as a double-CD set, with CD1 featuring the original album remastered plus the new mixes by Glenn Hughes and Pete Mew. CD2 will contain the original quad mixes in 4.1 and stereo. The set is likely to come out in a special edition, which Simon Robinson from the Deep Purple Appreciation Society has been asked to put together. "I'm going for a CD-size hardback book format, with extras including accurate reproductions of the American in-store advertising card and other goodies," Simon says. No firm release date has been confirmed yet."

  • Any time you deal with EMI and any DP reissues, the watchword is PATIENCE. C'mon..look how long that "Live In London" was delayed...but we got it eventually.

I have always loved "Stormbringer" and the prospect of the champagne treatment is too cool for words. Whenver you get around to it guys....I am not going anywhere! ;)
