Just read the blog on Mel's site and would recommend everyone reading it. He's really going to fight the good fight.
My mom passed away from cancer earlier this year and it is a very scary, very real experience. If there is any good that can possibly come of it is that loved ones/friends can express many things that most of us rarely say to one another.
My mom (who played on the Grand Ole Opry and sold many records) made sure everyone she loved know it towards the end. That's where Mel is now. Yes, it is sad, but the funny things is, Mel will be the least sad of all. It's everyone else that he comes into contact with that will have the hardest time because they have to go on and live without him. He will be at peace with himself as he tries to be strong for everyone else.
So here's to Mel!

Since I was diagnosed of cancer myself, pretty exactly 1 year ago, I know what it means to learn about the diagnosis ....
I had surgery and so far it looks good but noone knows what tomorrow brings. Thats why Im always prepared in mind ....as far this is possible.
Just wanted to share this to show all people here, and there seem to be quite a few, who experienced the same disease at themselves or their family, that you are all not alone. Life is full of tragedies and in any family you find at least one.
Mel latest blog is a great statement, beside the sadness of course, by a great human being, a true gentlemen and a brilliant musician. I wrote a blog myself to encourage other people to visit his site, listen to his music and learn about him.
In the end, there is no need to be sad, because we all meet again.

I am totally agreed... in a way or another we all know...
even if I am not religious... in the way this word is usually used... I think every person shares their energy life with many and leaves a mark in them... Mel is sharing with uncountable people for years that shining and that is what remains and we love him for his generosity touching us with it

Achim: Yes we will all be in the same place eventually. I am glad to hear you are doing well in regard to your cancer.
I simply cannot pretend to know what that sentence ("you have cancer") must sound like when it comes to you at a relatively young age. I'm assuming you are of average age and not older.
My mom died at 79 and had smoked for 66 years 
She was funny, smart, talented and addicted.
Graham, you are absolutely right – Mel is inspiring all of us around him to enjoy and celebrate his life.

hi my name is lol cook, i've been a fan of trapeze ever since, medusa, saw them first at malvern winter gardens and also at a pub in worcester called the copper tops! then stayed a huge fan of the band after glenn hughes left (mel galley inspired me as a guitarist) to me he is the god of funk rock! i am deeply saddened to hear the recent news of his ill health, and shocked. and my prayers are with him and his family. godbless.... you are the music... were just the fans! xxxxxxx
