And the winner is ...

  • ME! :bouncer2:

I have finally found my lifelong companion - a little lady in the form of a Yorkshire Terrier. Not had one for 21 years though did foster an Irish Wolfhound for three months about six years ago, who was beautiful and extremely intelligent.

Every name under the sun has been suggested to me, but I'd love to hear any names you can think of for her - needs to be associated with Glenn of course. She has her KC registered name but it's a mouthful and best left to the certificate!

Tyler and Tootsie (my cats) can't believe that this tiny bundle of fluff has taken over ...  they'll be the best of friends within a week.

    I'm in love ...

'You thought that you could take me for granted, but I couldn't take it no more. Better run if you see me coming ... '

  • What about DIVINE? For short you can call her Deevee!!

PS - I am a dog lover too. For 13 years until last year we've had a female Irish Setter we called Shirley!! She died of old age.

    Cheers
    Manuella

  • Oh Shirl, I'm so happy for you. Give this little girl big hugs from me :) Concerning her name, I would suggest Huguette...Pronounce u (like in "under") - get!!!

This is an French given name (the feminine for Hugues...). Sounds appropriate, what do you think ???

  • Some interesting names have been suggested, on here, myspace and at work. Keith - both you and my mate Ritchie (Buddy) have suggested Maddie (Maddy?) which is interesting, and thank you for paying attention ... Addiction ... ;)

Nath - if I shouted 'u get' around these parts it would possibly have the RSPCA at my door!  :p

    Thanks everyone :D

Chris - will get some pics of her in the next few days and put them on myspace

  • AWWWWWW! I used to have two yorkshire terriers, a family friend couldnt have them any more, so they came to live with us, they were called Bonnie and Clyde, and Clyde was the most docile, sweet natured little thing ever, and Bonnie used to boss him around! dont know if ive told you, but we now have a giant, beastly sized jack russell terrier called Tess, that we got from the RSPCA, she's a sweetie really. Good luck naming the little one!

  • When i was at junior school we had a dog called Tulra

my father said if we were to have a dog then he would name it.

what did it stand for?

:fy2: Trade Union & Labour Relations Act of course!

my sisters and i called him Tully tho :D

Does this useless information help Shirl

  • Don't know if that helps, but the first two names that come to my mind when I think of anything 'Andrews' are... (except for Shirl, of course)
    Julie* and Harvey**
It's a little lady dog, so my suggestion is Julie.
    :)
    Christian

    * Julie Andrews, Mary Poppins, no introduction necessary.

** Harvey Andrews, Singer/Songwriter. Worked with Ralph McTell before the latter became famous with Streets Of London. His 1971 penned Soldier from the Writer Of Songs LP is classic!

  • OK, Shirl....here's my 2 pence worth ~

When my oldest daughter fell in love with two baby kittens
that were up for adoption at her neighborhood grocery store,
(where the local animal shelter had set up a temporary site)
naming them was a problem......they were brother and sister.

First, she was going to name them (HONESTLY) Sammy and Betty,
after the famous brother and sister: Sammy Davis and Bette Davis.
But she ended up calling them Daisey and Duke.
    We will...NOT...discuss that television show.

Their pooch is named "Roxy" because Diana and Greg both went
to Roxbury High School, where they first met.......Ah, romance!
None of which information helps you too much.

So here's my suggestion for your pooch.................
As you know, Shirley Temple's mother used to nag that poor kid,
just before she went in front of the cameras, with the command:
    "Sparkle, Shirley, Sparkle."

So I think that the pooch should be called ~ "Shirley's Sparkle."

    "Sparkle" for short.

And I think that "Tyler" and "Tootsie" might like that name, too!

PS...So, you need an ax for this Julie, huh? :axe:

    Take care, Shirl..........:hi5:

    Grace

  • Thanks everyone - had a great laugh with this one.

There was no GH connection in the end but after calling her Maddie, Trixie, Tilly, 'Tallica (thanks Lee :p), Flossie  and lots of expletives when she leaves little deposits everywhere :sint1:  ... Millie it is :D

Millie's pedigree name is Tilly Trotter Pumford ... on the certificate her great grand sire on the sire's side of the family is 'Zonatus Kotschyanus' - yikes!

I've not felt love like this for years

And Wolfy - that story about your dad and Tulra - a killer!

Got it - the GH connection - I'm addicted to her

  • Didn't settle on 'Fido' then,Shirl ;) - Millie's a great name

PS Does anyone actually call their dog 'Fido',or is it purely for the cartoons?

    PPS btw,it's still raining :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: !!! - I'm gonna reach for a 'cold one' (beer,that is :eek:)
