  • great podcast -excellent interview from glenn -glenn was talking about possible usa dates in a positive light but it seemed to me like mr swan came on and threw cold water on the whole idea - maybe i took it the wrong way you guys - listen and see what you think -i do fully agree with mr swan on one point he tryed to make - i wanna see glenn play and win not play and see him lose his shirt

  • but it seemed to me like mr swan came on and threw cold water on the whole idea - maybe i took it the wrong way you guys - listen and see what you think

I just think Carl's trying to set expectation levels straight, so if for whatever reason it doesn't pan out as hoped, it isn't a complete surprise to everyone. However, as it stands now, it looks fairly promising, but as Carl says, let's wait and see. I think we're a lot closer than ever before, so I'm one who's sitting here with everything crossed :D

  • ok david i think your right- it is hard to hear something with a 5 year old in the room - we will wait and see -great to hear glenn so upbeat!!!

  • I finally got cable out here...Electricity finally came to Arkansas as BOA once sang..so it was about time that high speed came to Churchville! And I have been catching up with watching videos and stuff on You Tube.....

The Podcast was great....Glenn dished out a lot of info and it seems that hope remains for a group of US shows. Let's keep our various digits crossed!! I will have to go back in the Archives and listen to the previous Podcasts!

I can't say it enough David and Shirean...Thank you so much for all the work you do!! :clapper::thumbup:

  • I was really amazed about how up beat Glenn was about a possible MK3 reunion tour in the next couple of years. :)

I am sure that Glenn, David and Jon would have no problem fitting it in to their schedules and i even remember an interview with Ritchie a couple of years ago saying he would be happy to play some gigs ( but no new albums) for the fans and nostalgic reasons.

However as Paicey is still a member of Deep Purple how would he be able to fit in playing with a reformed MK3 line up? I can just imagine the reaction of Ian Gillan, hearing that the drummer is going to take a sabbatical to play with Ritchie again.

  • Just finished listening to the podcast....I hope the release of the Rome gig on DVD materializes very soon, I wanna re-live the memories of a fantastic night! :clapper:

Thanks to the dynamic duo for another great podcast!

In this crazy world you must change yourself....

Never compare yourself to others - people are more screwed up than you think.

    Exactly, Iain!

One of the questions I sent in for the chat with Glenn the other day was, if they (Cov/Lord/Hughes) were considering playing with Chad Smith and John Frusciante in Mark III.
I can't imagine that the current Deep Purple would let Paice play with Blackmore either, and also I can't imagine Blackmore doing it at all.
I also made a comment about RB being stuck in medieval England :D that may well be the reason why the question wasn't put up ;) ;) ;)

Also, might well be that Kiedis and Flea wouldn't want to take a RHCP time-out for a year or more.
Then again, after a year (and a half) of touring and promoting Stadium Arcadium - you never know....

We will see..., maybe I'm wrong at all ;)

    Cheers,
    Christian

  • I would really love to see a MK3 reunion, however, unless, we have the full line up of Blackmore, Coverdale, Hughes, Lord and Paice, i dont think the project would have any credibility with the fans or promoters either.

Also what would this line up actually play as Blackmore was quoted as hating the Stormbringer album due to its "shoeshine music" So you are left with the Burn album and playing the Mark 2 classic tunes which another outfit manage to do on a regular basis.

I have a lot of respect for Chad and John as musicians but wouldn`t want to see the Deep Red, Purple Chilli Peppers and if this was all that was on offer i think that Glenn should carry on making and playing his awesome music and why not try to tour as a power trio with John and Chad now i would pay good money to see that.
