Tonight are the Grammy Awards- and the Red Hot Chili Pepper's are nominated for 6 awards. Best of luck to you Soul Mover! I didn't know it- but Chad also played on the Dixie Chick's latest album...which is also nominated for a grammy or two..
I wonder if Chad's best buddie and his wife will be in attendance tonight? I'll be watching!
Also, I'm not sure if it's national pricing or not, but for those who have not yet bought the Pepper's latest- Target has Stadium Arcadium on sale for only $9.99!
Let's hope that tonight- "Stadium Arcadium" makes Album of the Year!
M.

Good Luck to Chad and the Boys!

How about if soulmover wears a Glenn Hughes t-shirt to the big event?
Or one that says:
That would be acceptable, I think.
soulmover
You know that we GHCPs will be rooting for you! -
GOOD LUCK TO "RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS"
"STADIUM ARCADIUM" SHOULD BE
THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR
I AM VERY THANKFULL TO CARL SWANN(GLENN MANAGER),
THAT HE WAS GIVE ME GLENN ALBUM-"MUSIC FOR THE DIVINE",
AND THERE I HAVE AUTOGRAPH FROM CHAD SMITH
HE IS WROТЕ TO ME ON HIS PICTURE:
"Hi Dani California" :):):)
SO,NOW EVERYBODY KNOW WHY MY USER NAME IS
"Dani California" -
I'm rooting for RHCP and Dixie Chicks...not out of bias but because it's about flippin' time good music won grammys! I like Gnarls Barkley, Mary J Blige(adore her), Corinne Bailey Ray, John Legend, and many others nominated and wish them well too....but if the drowning cat known as James Blunt wins anything, Justin Timberlake gets away with Album of the Year, and the Black Eyed Peas get rewarded for their "music" it will be pure travesty!

I agree .... We need more ROCK BANDS!
Congrats Chad
Was that Glenn and Gabby's back we saw as the camera panned in on the band through the croud just prior to the mass of confetti? (probably not) Wish I had TiVo
Don't care for the Dixie Chics (at all) They don't even write thier own music.. -

Don't mean to go off topic but like them or not, I'm glad they won because it proves that in a free country it is your sacrosanct right to say what you want without being ostracized. I know many people will read all sorts of political statements into this or say that they got lucky cause they were riding high in a climate of anti-Bush sentiment but if music can serve to prompt people to think differently, so be it.

A win for the Chicks was also a win for our Chad. So I think that makes him the big winner of the night. He made the whole show worth watching (in my opinion).
It was nice to see him playing with the Dixie Chicks earlier in the evening. It would have been nicer if they had actually turned a few lights on in the back so we could see him better but...
And as for the Pepper performance...as usual they started out only showing the three in the front. But as the song progressed he stole the show and they started giving him the coverage he has always deserved.
It may sound a little crazy but tonight I was prouder than ever to be a Chad fan. Kind of a little "I told you that man was good...."

Though you've got to love the expression on his face here...he's like, "hurry up and give me that Grammy before AK gets his hands on it!"

I agree with Conchita67 somewhat, and the Dixie Chics are definetely talented, but most of there big hits are at least co-written by others- I believe, but maybe I'm wrong- I own none of their material. It's just my personal opinion that weighs-in with more merit if you are a songwriter and performer. And I admit part of my disliking of the Dixie Chics does have some to do with the little chic's comments (not just the anti-Bush ones). But not to sound too hypocritical- I do totally agree with your (Conchita's) comment about free speech. I am bothered that just because you are an entertainer or from Hollywood - that it means you automatically know all about politics or running a country. And that is apparently what some of the American populous believes. I do applaud Al Gore's efforts in global warming awareness- but it's my opinion- he had no business being there. It just proves that there was another agenda in effect... politics...and not just the music. And to me, it's a slight discredit to the actual judging of the awards themselves. If they can try to sway the public politically, they are likely swaying the music and artist's popularity as well...musical politics! We all know that's what is going on. I think that the political side of the event was to bring the Dixie Chics back into the lights...back where they were before her comments. What did they get? 5 Grammy's? Hmmm... I don't know... there was a lot of talent beyond theirs left without awards. Not just the Chics- I absolutely love Neil Young..but best Rock Album? Have many of you heard that album? I bought it- the album was alright, but I think they just wanted to uplift his political stance and nothing more. Maybe I am totally wrong, but I think there was an additional agenda besides just music in this whole event. Is that so bad? I don't know. Was Ted Nugent invited to the Grammy's in 1976?
As far as the Pepper's performance- I was a little dissappointed in the vocals.... but Chad and Flea were rock solid.
I had heard a lot about John Mayer- but this was the first time I had heard him and seen him perform- I was very impressed- I bet the Grammy Award exposure is going to do him some real good- I know that I at least, will be buying a couple of his CD's very soon.

Granted, they probably know about running a country as much as you or I would know. The real problem is, does the person who is acutally running the country know how to do it? -

MarkI can't stand John Mayer....I 'dunno, he just comes off to me as trying too hard to sound like his heroes (I assume) - of course, that's not a bad thing - but I just prefer hearing the originals such as SRV, Clapton, Beck etc, whoever he's trying to sound like at a particular point in time, even his vocals are remincisent of others and I simply hear no originality in his style. It just rubs me up the wrong way
Yeah, the Chili's performance reminded of the Orlando gig the other week, the rhythm section were hot, but the vocals were tired and therefore, lacking. Would of thought a song like "Hump De Bump" would of pumped up the crowd a bit more, but I guess the organizers thought the snow would be good TV.....even though it's not Xmas :p -
For those who didn't have the chance to catch it last night, here's the Peppers performance.
Chris Rock does the introductions..... -
Great performance from Soulmover, Flea and Frusciante who managed to steal the show and cover up for AK who seemed to have another struggling-to-get-those-notes-right night, but still managed to slip through safely to the other side
Anybody see that stick trick Chad did in that segment after the second chorus leading to the bridgeI've seen a lot, but I have never seen that one!!!!
Well deserved award(s)!
Got to see the whole RHCP peformance since I recorded the whole programme - unfortunately German broadcaster PRO 7 seemed to have an off-night too, and only 1 hour was broadcast correctly - the rest was either "we are sorry...."-breaks or blank screen
So I only got to see 20 seconds of The Police, which I really wanted to seeand The Dixie Chicks without any sound, which didn't really matter that much
Cheers,

Without trying to take this too off topic
You can download/view Chad's performance with the Dixie Chicks from here and then below is the reunited, The Police, performance.

AFTER WATCHING THE GRAMMYS I HAVE THE FOLLOWING OPINION OF THE SHOW:
- THE POLICE WERE GREAT
- THE NEXT 3 HOURS WAS GARBAGE
- THE PEPPERS WERE COOL AND AL GORE HANDING THE TROPHY TO CHAD WAS PRICELESS !!!
The show could have had two performances and scrolled the winners across the screen and i could have spent my time being productive
- THE POLICE WERE GREAT
-
Thanks, David - this is what I wanted so much to see!
And look here - youtube have not taken it down yet :p
Now let's hope for the World Tour...;)
