Hollywood Musicians Institute invitation

  • GLENN has been invited to appear at a PRIVATE event at the Hollywood, California based, Musicians Institute.

The Musicians Institute is one of the world's most innovative professional music schools dealing with modern, commercial music styles. The school has had hundreds of immensely successful visiting artists come and perform for the students; artists such as Stevie Wonder, Edward Van Halen, Melissa Etheridge, Stanley Clarke and Chad Smith (one of their alumni!).

GLENN will play a couple of solo songs, answer some interview-style questions about his musical beginnings, collaborations/bands, songwriting process and his current work, and answer some questions from the students. This is NOT a clinic, but a chance for GLENN to discuss his success in music and to perform his songs for a young audience of aspiring musicians.

This event is free to all Musicians Institute students, and only Musicians Institute students can attend. This is not a public show. It takes place on Thursday, February 15th at 4:00PM PST.

  • Reading this information, David, somehow I pictured:

An elderly (over 25) rock and roller walking out onto the stage,
explaining to these students the musical road that he's taken.
A charming question and answer period then follows.
Yes, there have been many musicians whose work has influenced Mr. Hughes over the years.
Interesting to have been in Trapeze, DP, and briefly, Black Sabbath.
    Blah, blah, blah.

Then this old guy (my wig didn't move, did it?) ;)
gets down to business, and shows these kids how it's done.

Despite a brilliant solo song book, I hope that Glenn will sing:
    Resurrection Shuffle,
at only, let's say, 75% of GH full industrial-strength power.

    One song.
The windows blow out; the roof gets raised.
Kids layin' all over the floor, as if dead.
    Yeah, that aughta' do it.

    Hey, who was that guy?
    GLENN HUGHES, children.....listen and learn.

    Knock 'em dead, Glenn.

  • *Any possibility that this interview / performance at the

Musician's Institute in Hollywood might be recorded?

*With the sale proceeds going to the school?

*Any chance we GHCPs might buy a copy?

  • good idea grace

Thanks, tony g, but let's face it..........

If somebody planted a recording/computer chip on Glenn,
and he spent the day walking around his house
    JUST HUMMING SOMETHING
there would be some of us GHCPs (OOPS - all of us GHCPs probably)
who would want to buy this CD recording.

After all, they don't call us the GH crazy people for nothing, huh?

On February 15, MI and VIT welcome Glenn Hughes for a special concert-interview-Q&A event. Hughes, best known for his work as bassist-vocalist with pioneering hard rock bands Trapeze and Deep Purple, has maintained a long solo recording and touring career. His latest CD, Music for the Divine, also features appearances by the Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and John Frusciante. At MI, Glenn will engage in a free-form Q&A with MI students and sing some of his music accompanied by his own acoustic guitar work.

  • Almost makes you want to go up to one of the kids in attendance and say, "I'll do your homework for a year if you remember to turn on a tape recorder during a certain interview ;) "

We can only wait and see what gets smuggled out!
