Sickening news for Glenn

  • After reading this I am horrified. We see crime everyday of our lives, from robberies to killings to the moron driving after a bottle of vodka, yet certain things are just beyond comprehension. To desicrate the ashes of your pets is what really kicks me in the 'nads. I hope they find the thieves, but, my inner self says I hope someone other than the authorities do the finding!!! Real justice can only be meted out by the people who were violated, and I hope these pieces of cr*p get what they deserve and not a slap on their pathetic wrists.
Glenn, I know you read this, and I honestly mean it when I say, if you need help finding them, do not hesitate to look me up...I will leave it at that.

  • This is terrible news indeed, and I'm deeply shockened every time such a useless crime happens to people "close" to me.

Cross that intimate line and break into people's homes - how can one do that!?
I am almost daily confronted (and it upsets me a lot!) with situations our shop security have to handle with shoplifters, quite often well-situated people (we had an ambassador's wife recently, true!) who think it's okay to take and leave. It's not. It's a crime. It's so unfair.

Glad to read that Glenn and Gabi are fine. I hope they can still enjoy the holidays.
Police will do the best they can.

P.S. originally I wanted to post over at glennhughes.com aswell, but my account was suspended when I changed my e-mail adress!?   Funny, huh!?

  • There's some simply irreplaceable stuff such as priceless mementos from his days in Deep Purple, gold records, as well as of course, lots and lots of personal items

One of the cops is a big GH fan, so was extra helpful! It sounds like it will be a real Fort Knox before the year is out, so if there's a next time, the bastards will get caught in the act or worse case, shortly thereafter what with the security cameras that will now be all around the place!

Meantime, if any of you see any exotic Deep Purple memorabilia appear on eBay or elsewhere, do let us know, so we can pass the details on.

  • I totally agree with the above...I also remember the time when Marc Bolan died and while Gloria Jones was still in hospital their apartment was burgled!!! absolutely sick!!!!

So my thoughts are for Glenn and Gabi..and lets hope the cops track the mindless few and hopefully recover priceless items that are missing.

  • Big, big hug to Glenn & Gabi at this time...and just before Christmas! Talk about adding insult to injury!

I just hope Karma bites the bastards in the ass big time!

In this crazy world you must change yourself....

Never compare yourself to others - people are more screwed up than you think.

  • Just dropped by to browse the forum and post a review, and I happened to see this thread...

I'm sorry to hear about that, but glad Glenn and Gabi and their pets are okay. I've never had that happen to me, so I can only imagine what it must feel like.

Hopefully the authorities will be able to track down who did it and recover their items.

  • this same thing happened to me once - for awhile you are scared but after that it turns to hatred and serious thoughts of revenge - everybody keep a look out for anything

  • As everyone has said, at least Glenn and Gabi weren't around at the time and the pets weren't harmed.

This sort of thing is just so invasive and upsetting, especially when personal treasures go missing.

I know first hand how devastating it can be. Many years ago my parents came home after a night out to find the house turned over. Family jewelry and silver disappeared along with tv, video, hifi etc. they even drank a pint of milk from the fridge and left the empty bottle on the kitchen table.
Insurance money cant ever replace the original items emotional value.

Glenn and Gabi, our thoughts are with you both.

  • I don't post very much as I am generally happy to read stuff here but sometimes I feel like I gotta say something. Glenn & Gabi, I have had the same experience more than once and it is a feeling of terrible violation and loss. My greatest sympathy to you both. I know GH/Purple fans worldwide will be looking for any lost memorabilia to show up and hopefully this will lead back to these b*stards

  • To Glenn and Gabi. Our thoughts are with you at this very distressing time and we all hope that you are OK?

Anyone that has been in this position must be going through a complete and utter violation. It is not just the value of anything that is taken, but the thought that things have been stolen that have a trully personel attachment.

We all hope you are there for each other at this horrible time. Many fans, old and new, send our sincere thoughts to you both.

    God bless

  • The theft of general material items is annoying and inconveiniant, but when irreplaceable and sentimental items are stolent then it's very sad.

At least Glenn and Gabi are ok physically and I hope (at least the irreplaceable) their stuff turns up and is recovered.

    Very sorry to hear that...

  • Dear Glenn,

So sorry to hear of this misfortune. These people are sick, and being a police officer myself I witnes the devastation that this causes people in your situation, on a daily basis - and my heart goes out to you and Gabi. I hope that my colleagues in the USA find them and they get just what they deserve, and moreover, you get back what was stolen.

Just keep faith Glenn, as know you will. God is good, and I am sure he wont let you down.
Best wishes for Christmas and New Year.

P.S Glenn - maybe it may make sense to post on here some of the unique things that went in the burglary, so we can all be vigilant in our search for the items and hopefully their return?

    Steve

  • So sorry to hear this sad news and so glad that no one was hurt. Glenn and Gabi, I'm sending you my most sincere thoughts. Big big hugs to your babies.
Let's all keep an eye on Ebay.
    Cheers
    Nathalie

  • What a shame! I was shocked too when I read these horrible news on gh.com yesterday.
Beside the irreplacable loss of items linked with lots of memories its also the shock and awe that you go through when you enter your home and find your place in such a condition.
As everyone said above, I really hope that you both can enjoy xmas tho.
We all will keep a close eye on ebay and elsewhere.
    Merry christmas.
    Achim

  • Glenn and Gabi, I'm so sorry to hear such terrible news!!
    I can't believe what I just read!!
    That is disgusting!
It's bad enough that these ***holes broke in, but to do that to the ashes is just bloody sad.
I hope these bums get caught!!!!
Nobody steals from the voice of rock and gets away with it mate!!!!!!!

  • So sorry to hear what has happened! The most important thing is that both Glenn And Gabi and their pets are okay. It's straight messed up all that these intruders took and did, especially knocking over their pets ashes! Despicable! It's a horrible feeling and especially around the holidays.I had this happen to me once and was mugged and fondled at gun point by five guys another time. It turned out that I knew the person who vandilized my home and two of the guys who mugged and fondled me were neighbors!  Talk about double whammy!Glenn and Gabi keep the faith,be safe and enjoy each other and your pets and please don't give these jerks the satisfaction of ruining your holidays!I hope the authorities recover all of your belongings.
