Just added the video of Whitesnake performing Give Me More Time on Top of The Pops in 1984 to Mel's page. Its poor quality but you can see Mel on his Les Paul with John Sykes on his. Sykes is still playing the same guitar even now in Lizzy.
Neil Murray himself loaded it up on to Youtube!

Gibson's Custom Shop has made a John Sykes model of the Les Paul, a replica of his 1978 Black Beauty right down to the mirrored pickguard and the wear marks on the body and neck. There is also a Mick Jones Les Paul, a replica of his 1968 Black Beauty which looks a lot like Mel's guitar. I don't know what year Mel's Les Paul is but it appears to be the same vintage as Mick's guitar.
I think the Les Paul was one of John's first guitars and he has used it on just about every recording he has done. -
Bill, Mel's Custom is a '67.

I go into the city fairly often...get off the subway in midtown and can't resist going up to 48th Streert to walk along "Music Store Row"....Sam Ash, Rudy's Guitars and the world renowned Manny's....I love to window shop there....the guitar has always had an appeal to me as a work of art and there has been some stunning craftmanship on display there.
Some guys are crazy about muscle cars and motorcycles.....I get knocked out by guitars! -
Bill, Mel's Custom is a '67.
Jbut the original electrics on it were from the 1950s.
Mel also changed the black dials on it to the gold ones you see in the pics on Myspace. -
All 4 songs changed tonight.....turn up loud and enjoy
-
just added a new blog with a final message written by Mel just a few days before he passed away.
Mel asked me to continue both his and the Trapeze page and it will be an honour to do so. -
Paul, I have said it before, but I will take every opportunity to remind you that I think you are a very cool and standup guy to keep these sites up and working with great music, not to mention as cool as they are for historic purposes.
You really did (and continue to do) Mel a great service, and an even greater one for us, as well. Thanks, brother Wolf

Gee, Paul......It's hard to believe that it's already been
a year since you e-mailed that photograph to me.
(The one with instructions to beat somebody with a stick.)
As Frank said, tell the people over there ~ that we remember.

I emailed Wolfy last night saying it has been a year already since we were at Mel's birthday party last year.
Mel, you are truly missed. -
TO MEL...
in loving memory, -
Put on the CD " Hold On " and played along to the title track with the bass guitar. Took Wolfys' advice and cranked it. Could feel it!... For Mel.

I was at work last night and spent some time over at You Tube; along with the videos they have a lot of songs you can listen to..so I cranked a little Trapeze last night over the headphones. I don' have any Trapeze on CD here with me so it was a treat...."Loser" , "Keepin' Time", "Hold On", ....
I was thinking about what Glenn had said in his Tweets about taking a walk in the woods...I do believe that Mel wasn't far away as Glenn walked along the same trails.....
We miss you Mel! -
Glass raised & music remembered
RIP,Mel -
