Rare Trapeze poster from 1973

  • Met this guy down the pub today who used to play in a band with Glenn back in the early 70's ;) :D

He very generously gave me a couple of original paper billboard posters from a Trapeze show on 8th December 1973.

Just 70p entry. what was their fee!

See if you can spot the hand written message. It will give you a clue as to where this poster is heading

  • Hello Paul,

    nice poster!
Is it a contest to figure out who the guy was?
    My suggestion is: Mel Galley.
I recognised his style of writing from his autograph.
    I have a similar one ;)

    Wishing to be there, too,
    Bye

    Michael

  • :cool1:

Many thanks to you Wolfy. Tell Mel thank you as well, the next time you see him. Also to the guy that gave you the posters

The poster will be a great addition to the Trapezeum.

  • No problem  It's Mel's way of thanking you for the stuff you sent over for him - plus he knows it's going to a good home. the poster is 56cm * 44cm and apart from the wear and tear at the top is in amazing condition for something 33 years old.

I have instructions to take plenty of pics :camera: of the Trapezium so i can show him.
Plus it takes my mind off missing the Journey tour  and reminds me of the Arizona tour next year instead ;) :D

  • By the way......if anyone between here, Scottsdale, Arizona and Cannock, England sees this poster lying on the floor of some shipping warehouse or truck, please pick it up, dust if off, and forward it to me :thanx:

Of all things to fall out of the box it was in, when it got tossed around and damaged.... :(

From the bowels of Mel's backyard shed.

I received this poster a few days ago. It takes away some of the sting of the first one getting lost during the trip over the pond. When I get this one framed, I'll include a photo of the first one that was signed my Mel.

By the way, I've been told that all things Trapeze have been removed from the shed and is now in a safer location
