Anyone like Tom Waits?

  • Does anyone here like Tom Waits? I know this is way off topic but I have tickets for Tom Waits Aug. 2,2006 @ Asheville,NC. It is an 8 date tour, Tickets sold out less then 10 minutes. I am so excited, I've been a big fan of his since 89

Also this weekend I was at a friends house and I had him burn Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush Real Live 2 cd. Absolutely mindblowingly good. Has anyone else heard it?

  • That Marino CD is quite good, I agree! He's one of those guys who's never been content to simply write great songs and play them. He likes to use them as a springboard, and dive into the deep end of the musical pool to explore a bit. Good stuff! He's the Jacques Cousteau of rock guitar. LOL

  • Rain Dogs is definitely one of my 10 desert island discs!

And as Toadsterama mentioned Jacques Cousteau, you should really all give a listen to a band called Cousteau. If you like Scott Walker & Nick Cave with a tinge of Tim Buckley & Bacharach, they are for you. The singer's baritone will knock your socks off, guaranteed :)

In this crazy world you must change yourself....

Never compare yourself to others - people are more screwed up than you think.

  • Yes I love Cousteau & also Scott Walker, his new one is "The Drift" and I also like "Tilt". I will let you know how the Tom Wait show goes. Have a great day GHCP!!:bouncer:

More dates to follow- he's seriously looking for a new bass player- asked for serious inquiree's on his site. The plant I work in is having a full blown shutdown for the entire month of October...just my luck. Other than Glenn, Frank is one of the few artists I would travel for, but this time I can't.
Hopin' we'll get done in time for the Dallas date, but unlikely.
