• If any one were to produce a movie about the life of Tommy Bolin... I'm convinced that Johnny Depp must play the part of Tommy... If any one else has seen the intro (at least) of the movie "Libertine" You may agree. I'm not a big fan of Johnny Depp.. but I must say that he really takes his role seriously and really becomes the characters he plays.

Hmmm. Who should play the role of Glenn Hughes in this movie?

Better yet... I think someone should produce a movie about the life of Glenn Hughes..having Johnny Depp playing the co-star role of Tommy!

....... but I think they'd have to dub his voice over

    Where's the problem here?

Glenn could supply the voice-over for this movie.
Glenn could also supply "The Voice" for this movie.
Come to think of it, put a.....VERY LONG WIG.....on Glenn,
and Glenn Hughes could very easily "play" Glenn Hughes.

PS.......I always thought that Tommy Bolin looked as if he had
a Native American ancestor in his family history background.
    Anybody agree with me?

  • Hello Grace,

As far back as the notes in the booklet for The Ultimate box set, it was stated that Tommy had Native American heritage and looking at him, it is easy to make that assumption. Richard Bolin was Swedish and Barbara his wife was of Syrian descent.

I had a friend in grade school who was also of mixed heritage; his father was German, his mother was Greek. John's older brother Dean looked a LOT like Tommy when he was in high school with the long hair. I can remember seeing the cover of Teaser and thinking; Geez, he looks just like Dean!"

The Van Halen brothers are another example; their father was Dutch and their mother was from the Pacific Islands.

I would definitely agree with you there Grace. I thought that Tommy Bolin looked as though he had Native American blood.

  • Thanks for the reply, Bill......and alibongo.
I was only able to find the 2-cassette tape of Tommy's
"Ultimate" set, so of course it didn't have any extensive liner notes.
And the printing on that......was way too small for me to read, anyway

Funny how you knew that Tommy and Johnnie were brothers,
but looking at the TB video from the 1989 Denver cable TV show,
their (now late) brother Richard didn't look like them.

Well, I've always thought that "mutts" make the best looking kids.
(My two daughters being the living proof of that.) :rose: :rose:

  • That's a funny thread! :)

    Quote from Beese

I think both Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderes would be a bit too old for the part!

Beese, I agree with Banderas (not just the bit here), but have you seen Charlie and The Chocolate Factory?
    ;)

    OR

...the part of Tony Iommi can be played by Ritchie Blackmore.

Sometimes I have to do a double-take, and take a second look
at a photo to see who's who, and which is which.
I think that those two guys, are twins separated at birth.

Could somebody post photos of RB and TI side by side?
    I think you'll see what I mean..........

  • Great ideas!

Personally, I would prefer Depp to play the role of Bolin. It´s almost frightning how close his look his on the 2 pics above...

Ritchie Blackmore will be the Iommi part, no doubt about it. Every actor always tells that the most challenge is to play the bad guys...

    cheers, Achim

  • ~ WOW ~

    Left-handed guitarist; right-handed guitarist.....You can't fool us!

It looks like I was right...........

Ritchie and Tony ARE long lost twins!

Unless.....they are really the same person.

Hey, has anybody ever seen the two of them together,

    AT THE SAME TIME?

    PS.....Thanks Alibongo

  • I always thought that the actor who played Darlene's boyfriend David on Roseanne looked like a young Glenn circa 1973...I can't remember his name off the top of my head... gonna have to do some cybersearching!

When I see recent pictures of Johnny Bolin he definitely favors his father; the Scandanavian features are real evident.

And Christopher Guest's Nigel Tufnel always looked a little like Ritchie Balckmore..and a LOT like Jeff Beck!! There's that scene where the band is waiting in the airport and Nigel is reading a hot rod magazine...nudge wink!!
