For my $, CTTB was DP's most interesting effort...I think David was at his peak vocally, and what can you say that hasn't been said about Tommy? He was such an innovative player who just had such a great imagination in the way he approached guitar...He and Glenn were so locked in musically that it was sick..They were truly twin sons of different mothers...

Favourite Deep Purple line-up

For me Mk3 is the best. I think that the voices of Glenn and David match perfectly, so I listen to Cal Jam '74 again and again, I'll never grow tired of it!
Totally agree here. Not many bands could compete with this line-up at that time. Cal Jam '74 gives testimony to that

but still mark 3 is the closer to my heart
NO MK 3 NO CALIFORNIA JAM AND I DO LIKE THIS CONCERT ..................TOO MUCH -
"Burn" always was my favourite DP album. So, there was no better for me than Mk III and Mk IV. Also I liked Mk V, especially songs like Slow Down Sister and Wicked Ways.

There's nothing cooler than MKIII Purple!

For me, it's Mk II and Mk IV.

Mk 2 was classic, but Mk 3 and Mk 4 are better. Burn, Stormbringer and Come taste the band: the best hardrocksoulblues trilogy ever

Hi! I'd say Mk.III...Burn's my favourite DP album, you can't go wrong with Mk.III playing Ml.III songs live, the singing was fabulous indeed, the 18 studio tracks all have something special &, last but not least, Cal Jam!

Gtk1974, unfortunately I can't tell which Mk. is your favourite as there's only a small square that appears on my (phone) screen
Do you mean that the top spot goes to...all of them?
Stormbringer74, enchanté!
Maybe this already exists, but I'm going to start a new thread on most-to-least preferred line-ups...I'd love to know what you all think!

I like all of them!!

I gotta say the MkIII was my favorite lineup. Even though I loved Mk II for the Machine Head album. But, the Burn album blew me away when it was released - those double vocals just grabbed me
