Glenn Hughes Georgia

  • Here's a pic of Glenn Hughes tinkering away on a keyboard together with Frank French. A guy who played with Drivin' 'n' Cryin' http://www.drivinncryin.com/

Shot in the eighties, probably 1987-1988-1989 during Glenn's 'Atlanta' period (he lived with his then fiancee from that place?)

    check out http://www.frankfrench.com/

Apparently Frank has been a (revolving?) member of 1910 Fruitgum Co. a sixties popband who helped to define what has become known as 'bubblegum music'

I kinda started digging in this scene and came up with the following interesting stuff......

  • Those were dark dark days indeed....I am sure that Glenn must cringe when he sees pictures from this time period. Personally, I would rather celebrate the present than reflect on the past...and wee all know that there is MUCH to celebrate in regard to Glenn's work over the last 12 years!

  • Gee, can't the poor man eat some chocolate once in a while?
    Give the guy a break......
It's not like they had to roll Glenn onto a stage.
And it's not too healthy to be just a bag of bones, either.

There are a couple of performers who are SO OVERWEIGHT
that as fans, you have to seriously worry about their health.
Between diabetes and weight gain/loss, that's why we
    lost Luther Vandross.

And since nobody's called me "skinny" since I was 8 years old,
I'm not going to point any fingers at anybody.

    Take care of yourself, Glenn.
And have an occasional chunk 'O chocolate!

    ;)

  • My band opened for Pat Travers in Atlanta in 1990 & Glenn showed up to sing "Stevie" with Pat. It was fantastic!!! Yes he was a little heavy then & it was right before he ...uh, cleaned up.

I have a couple of really bad pix I'll try to scan & post...

  • I am more interested in the sound. I have never heard Glenn singing Stevie live.

Have you taped the show by any chance ? With the live tape of your band as well?

  • Didn't tape the show. It sounded great (to my recollection). This was before Glenn cleaned up, but the band had Pat of course, Derek Riggs on 2nd guitar, Mars Cowling on bass & I can't remember the drummer.

I asked Glenn about it at the 2004 Bolin Fest & he said he remembered the show.
