new jethro tull dvd

  • just bought JETRO TULL NOTHING IS EASY LIVE AT THE ISLE OF WIGHT first time i saw it but i bet it was probably out every where else in the world already but anyway it has a clip from the stones ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS on it where you can see tony iommi playing with a big hat on and his face down i have never seen someone look so uncomfortable on stage in my whole life i dont think he played with them long

  • I've seen this video- your right, it wasn't very long- basically it was for this prior commited gig. "Uncomfortable" is close to how Tony described his time with them as well.

  • The performance by Jethro Tull on Rock N' Roll Circus is largely mimed; Ian Anderson is singing and playing live over a taped backing track that the group is miming to.....Glenn Cornick has his hands full "playing" both harmonica and bass guitar!!

After Tony left Tull, there was a lengthy search for a replacement; during a rough patch in Free, Paul Kossoff supposedlyauditoned for the spot that, as we all know, has been filled ever since by Martin Barre.

Tull was a mere stepping stone for Mr. Iommi who was destined to carve out his own place in music history....

  • Ah but yes.. he took a step back to Earth -and reimerged as the almighty Black Sabbath!

I love the old Tull stuff- grateful for having both bands to listen to!

  • Wow I've been waiting for this DVD since I saw the ad in Classic Rock Magazine. Finally a classic Tull concert on DVD. I hope it was captured in a decent way. Hopefully there will be released more of Jethro Tull on DVD. There is so much out there in the vaults.

Something off topic but I can recommend everybody the new cd of Joe Lynn Turner "The Usual Suspects". I think it's his best as a solo artist. Be sure to pick this one up.

  • arjen i like this dvd but it isnt what id call a true concert dvd interview segments of ian anderson are interspersed through out its more of a history of the isle of wight event more than songs but i will say the footage and sound are excellent if you like tull you should still like this dvd ( i only mentioned it because of the tony iommi connection to glenn)

Definitely. JLT sounded good and I should get it but am in no hurry, while stuff off Slam was kind of boring...But no doubt, have to get Usual as it sounds right on the money.
