As everyone has given their opinion on the Dvd, i thought i'd give a review of the cd only.
i havent watched the dvd yet as it only came yesterday (i havent forgotten you Chris 
) so I have therefore reviewed it as if the dvd didnt exist.
Firstly, great packaging on the digi pack
The sound mix is good all thru, tho is it just me who thinks "Wherever you go" could have been clearer? I have to say i dont like Chad's drumming in "Higher places". just dont think he nails it right.
JJ puts in some great solos - WAOYF is a killer.
Glenns 70's funk effect works well when used.
I dont think he holds back on the vocals like some have said.
the set list is what we have come to expect recently and probably right for an "outsider" but maybe us "fanatics" would have preferred more solo stuff.
What is most annoying is the fade outs between each track. for me it ruins the "live" environment of the show and loses some atmosphere. Glenn usually has something to say between songs.
the backing singers do a great job all thru.
I do think tho that there are better versions of "coast to coast" available on both the ROCK and Burning Japan live cd's.
Medusa is great. a real powerful interpretation.
Interesting to note that Glenn has given himself a writing credit on Mistreated - he doesnt get it on the Burn Remaster.
for me, the bonus tracks are welcome but a longer live set would have been much, much better. Especially with the size of Glenns back catalogue.
The Healer doesnt do anything for me at all but Change is great.
Overall a good release that can be recommended to non Glenn fans.

I agree Wolfy....I also miss the in-between song banter. I'm assuming that was thought out from the very start, because that night in the studio when a song was finished the camera guys immediately starting shouting to each other...."how much tape you have left?"...."ok, let's change tapes."..etc. There wasn't any time for Glenn to say anything. Although a couple of times Glenn was talking about something before a song, either the cameras were not rolling or it was decided not to use the footage.

That's right Chip...I haven't seen the DVD yet ( I must be patient!!) but the basic operation of the shoot was that Glenn and the guys would play two or three songs and then take a short break while the camera crew checked their tapes and the the sound guys did a quick check on the audio. Glenn kept the breaks short; he expressed concern about his voice tightening up during those breaks. The technical gremlins made their presence known by causing the audio for Coast To Coast and Wherever You Go to mysteriously vanish. Glenn was none too pleased and as Gabi tried to reassure him..."Now honey, these things happen..we're dealing with machines.." Glenn finally said "I'm not going to get upset in front of my friends.."
I do remember Glenn saying that the "freak flag" line in "Can't Stop The Flood"was a nod to a line in the David Crosby song "Almost Cut My Hair"...someone in the audience also pointed out that Jimi Hendrix used the expression in "If 6 Were 9" as well.

Having now heard the CD version I have to say that it is a too clean - almost like a studio live album (did anyone say Judas Priest ?;) ).
I prefer live albums that flow and love the banter netween the songs.
I appreciate that it is DVD recording, but maybe Glenn should have put out a live CD from a proper show rather than a showcase. G did on the last UK tour say they were recording them, or was that another 'rockstar' throwaway quote to get the crowd going!

Nothing worse than fadeouts ina "live" disc. Maybe that's why for me I felt the whole thing lacked the energy of "Burning Japan Live". I think I listened to "Soulfully Live" 4 or 5 times and just can't get into it.
