The Way It Is

Hi there,
The European version has it but it's not listed on the sleeve.
The American version of 'The Way it is' doesn't have the extra track.
By the way ex-CURE member Lol Tolhurst, did some electronic stuff on that 'shagmeister re-mix' -
I like the remix....worth tracking down a copy with it on it if you ask me.
mount the handlebars on the headboard and ride baby ride! -
Lol Tolhurst and his band played here in Indianapolis recently...unfortunately, I found out about the gig after the fact. I would have gone..hey, any connection to Glenn has got to be worthwhile...
I hate the US cover of The Way It Is but that is often what happens when a record company licenses out their product...the artwork usually suffers as a result. I bought the European version when it was released and not only does it have the remix of "Freedom", it also was signed by Glenn last March at Velvet Sessions ...and I will always cherish that!
One more week till Orlando....can't wait!!

This is my favorite Hughes CD! It just feels so natural. Sometimes his heavier stuff sounds "forced" but "The Way It Is" is just smooth and a near perfect style for Glenn's voice

This is a great cd. Beautiful tunes and some real rockers. I love the mix. Highly recommend it.

This CD is one of my faves , especially the title track is one of the best Glenn Hughes songs ever :claphands:claphands:claphands

This CD is one of my favorites as well. I really love Stoned in the Temple. I also love the guitar in Too Far Gone (kind of has an Eric Johnsony flavor to the style/tone). -
Title track has one of the coolest sounding chord progressions/melodie lines I've ever heard...that line "That's the way it is" .....when he sings "is" ....that is a brilliant piece of writing if I have ever heard one.

I have a little difficulties with this album.. not my favorite Hughes 's album..; some songs are terrific but some other one are a little bit too... cold for me (Idon't find another word..

Yesterday I heard Stoned In The Temple on the radio !!!!
How cool is that? Capt. Midnite would probably say it was chrome-plated cool -

No way! Which station? Very cool. All of our "rock" stations in Houston pretty much suck. We had one decent one that got sold out to Jack-FM last year. Yuck! -
Susan, it was on the Deep Tracks channel on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio. Every once in a while I'll hear Trapeze on one of their classic rock channels. Along with Purple featuring Glenn. Not since the old days of FM radio have you heard such great music on the radio. Some of it you've never heard on the radio before, only in your own home or car
Corporate ownership and program directors.....the death of terrestial radio -
i heard burn on the radio last weekend (wlup 97.9fm) im still shocked

I remember going to Slipped Disc one afternoon about a year ago and hearing "Curse" on XM40 "Deep Tracks" and yes, Chip, it was...well, you know!!
Seeing Glenn's name on the station display was sweet too! -
Susan, I love the song 'Too Far Gone' as well. And the solo is delicious! But I don't hear Eric Johnson - actually, I'm not much of a fan of his at all. I think the solo is incredibly reminiscent of Gary Moore. Very melodic, a complete statement in itself and with a sweet, singing tone.
Anyone else?
Cheers..Todd -

Cheers..ToddIt was not the solo that reminded me of Eric...but mostly the tone / feel of the guitar in the intro and at other parts of the song

Oh thanks, Todd, now I had to come in and listen and tell her why it sounds like EJ! lol She thinks it sounds like Eric because of in the main rhythm riff ....I listened and the reason is JJ is cleanly picking (with his right hand fingers) little 3 note inversions just like EJ does a lot with they hybrid picking (pick and fingers). I have made her listen to enough Eric Johnson that she pegged it. I have never heard GM, except some very unflattering youtubes sitting in with blues legends which I hated. I need to check him out and listen to something else.
Eric Johnson is the master to me, been watching him since '78.
Congratulations, Susan said you are gonna be a Papa again!! -
Sorry Roger, didn't mean to put you on the spot there
The body of the song may very well be reminiscent of Eric Johnson stylistically...I wouldn't know. I love the entire song, but the solo was what caught my ear most. I have loved Gary Moore's playing since I first heard him in 1986. I'm not enamored with his blues playing, although I suppose it's better than not hearing him play at all. Joe Bonamassa is far more creative in the blues arena. Gary rarely downplays his fiery rock tendencies, even in the blues, so he can certainly overdo it. That may be what you saw in those YouTube clips. None of the songs I would recommend to you as better samples of his playing are available on YouTube
Cheers...Todd -
On Sunday March 29 this album officially turned ten years old. The release date is burned into my brain. It was the first GH Cd that came out after I caught the fever. I still play it frequently and it and that year hold a special place in my heart. I remember how excited I was when I got it and started playing it. It didn't quite catch instant fire with me (few albums do, anyway) but as the years have gone on I appreciate it more and more. Outstanding work.
