Hi. It's been a while since I reported on stuff in Classic Rock magazine but there hasn'st been much of any interest relating to Glenn in there.
The new issue is different tho and its not bad for a change
Htp get a mention in the forthcoming gigs guide.
There is a small advert by JB's listing 4 gigs including Htp.
Mean Fiddler have a good sized advert for Htp for all 3 dates complete with HTP logo & Tickets for JB's are 50p more than at Bradford or London
There is a half page piece on "Dave Holland shame" which I wont dwell on.
Purple get a small article about them playing all of MH on their US tour.
Deepest Purple (who are excellent) have an advert for their latest shows including "Classic Monsters of Rock" with guests Slack Babbath in Middleton, Manchester. Check out www.deepestpurple.co.uk.
As I've reported before, they do a set as MK2 and a set as MK3 and are superb.
Here's an item for James. Knowing what a Karaoke star you are check www.tasteofpurple.co.uk . They are looking for a new singer.
Finally. I've saved the best till last. There is a full page with Glenn himself in the regular inside back page feature "Survivors: They did it so you don't have to".
It is too big for me to completely type in at the moment but if noone scans it in over the weekend I'll post it all. There are some great quotes including which song would you rather never hear again "Babe by Styx" and "how many groupies have you slept with" I think I slept with more than 50 in one year.. at the height of Trapeze's success in 1972.
How about this one Grace.
Q. What goals musically would you still like to achieve
A. "sing with an 80 piece orchestra"
ps. Lucy is now sleeping thru from midnight to 7am. I guess she's Midnight Meditated

Let's show a little respect here Daddy, for the official:
GHCP - Baby Division - STAR - that we're talkin' about here.
If Lucy Hannah wants to practice her GH screams,
who are you to stand in the way of her progress towards
musical perfection? And, in addition to your great "Classic Rock"
reviews and comments.....WE WANT PICTURES.....lots of them!!!!!
PS....Does the baby have more hair than GH in his "Addiction" picture, yet?
Give "LH" our love and a big kiss from all the GHCP family!!!! -
I just listened to the Taste of Purple clips...What is with guitar players that have no feel in their playing......yet they listen to players like Ritchie???? Doesn't any of it rub off properly? It's right there on the records! That intro of Mistreated and some of the other parts sound like a mechanical robot. Now it's obvious the proper feel has gotten into JJ's blood......that boy just nails it!
JH -
Grace,
Do you mean pictures of Lucy or Glenn?
Here are both of them taken from the same photo session LOL
"It's in my blood" -
That's a really sweet looking baby
that you've got there.....
We GHCP's want some pictures of
LUCY HANNAH awake, and of course,
sitting up (with some help) while
listening to GH's music !!!!!!!!
Glenn's fan base is certainly expanding:
Chuy as the newest GHCDog
and LUCY HANNAH as the newest GHCP - Baby Division - STAR!!!!!
Take care, wolfysmith......... -
Hi Wolfie,
Got my copy of Classic Rock this morning. Nice to read something decent after an arduous night shift. Did you see the mavericks interview back in issue 6? I dug my old copy out recently and thought it was an entertaining interview. Have got Trapeze's Welcome to the Real World live album on order. Can't wait to hear it. Hope it rocks! -
its a good cd but at times i think Mel is struggling. Geoff Downs on keys makes a good addition.
"It's in my blood" -
The reason of course Mel would be struggling is the show is after his 1984 accident with John Sykes where his hand was broken badly....making it hard for him to play guitar for long periods of time.

Here's the article wolfysmith mentioned earlier - sorry about the poor scan, but better than nothing

I bought Welcome To The Real World a few years back and reviewed it on Amazon. There were several things that need to be considered when making a critique of the preformance that night at the Borderline. The guys had little if any rehearsal time together, booking clubs on such short notice was nearly impossible and I think they had done maybe 3 shows together before the May 16,1992 performance..which Geoff Downes happened to tape without any view of actually releasing it.
Sure, Mel does struggle and the lack of rehearsal means that the guys had to rely on their chemistry to make it work. It is the spirit and not the letter of the performance that makes it a worthy purchase. I listened to it the other day and had to smile. I meant it when I wrote that review and I still feel the same today..it was "three old friends having a blast!"

Oh man, guys have to kiss Glenn???? I love ya man, but sheesh! I didn't even kiss the hottest woman I ever met, my beloved favorite actress Catherine Siachoque from Colombia in March. I got a hug, two of them in fact, but I know my place.
John -
Ah, so that is the lovely lady you've been telling me about John

I got a hug, two of them in fact, but I know my place.
... which was obviously right next to her with your arm around her and a BIG smile, hey John? There's no denying she's beautiful.

Thanks for those reponses. What's funny is I had correspondence from her before meeting her, (and I even get emails from her now) saying she would give me or is sending me a big kiss, and I didn't try to collect.
John -
I got a real kick of the twists and turns this thread took...from pictures of Miss Lucy to Glenn hoping he never has to hear "Babe" again to John Harjo's great story...
Just another Funky Chapter in the World Of The GHCP's!!
